I was wondering if anyone knows if I can download podcasts to my Nook Color device (not the Android tablet).

If you’re thinking of the same Nook Color that I am (model BNRV200), then technically it is an Android device, but only under the covers. It uses the Nook-specific home screen application and a lot of Android capabilities are fenced off and inaccessible. Most critically, I don’t think you have access to the Google Play environment at all, so your apps would have to come from the Nook app store (if that exists still).
If you can find a podcast manager/player in the Nook app store, that would work I would think. If the podcast is just a downloadable audio file, I’d think you could play it with the default music player application, but no guarantees. My limited information is from supporting some Nook Tablet devices (model BNTV250, very similar, 1/2 generation newer than what you’re describing). And I haven’t done much of that in the last couple of years, since everyone in the household that has a Nook Tablet now also has a generic Android 5.x tablet and uses that instead for tablet-y stuff.
