"Normal" foods that make you retch

Tomatoes, mushrooms, and fish (except for tuna and fish sticks). Also alcoholic beverages.

If squash or eggplant is ever served at my table, it had better come with a complimentary bucket to catch my vomit.
[sub]Robin, take note[/sub]

  • Spinach
  • Eggplant
  • Peas
  • Seafood of ANY kind
  • Meat that tastes like meat - it has to be completely seasoned or cooked until the flavour has gone. It makes me retch otherwise.
  • Mushrooms
  • Apricots [dried is okay, but apricot pie makes me heave]
  • KFC

I love mayo SO much that I could basically eat it straight out of the container. Mmm…

Some mayo is OK, but when burger places just slap on a ton of it, I have to scrape it off. I’m not too fond of tomatoes or olives, but the only “normal” food that I’ll really object to is mushrooms. Yuck.

My bestfriend has this thing about broccoli and just about every other veggie… when ever i mention them she shudders and almost faints with horror… I cant understand such emotion over veggies… I do however dislike tomatos i can not stand the taste or lack there of but, tomato sauce and stuff like that is fine…

Big Kahuna Burger, Dagny explained it. Eyes, brains etc… barf

gypsygirl31 - garlic perfume?! lol.

Dijon Warlock - I eat raw celery and peanut butter too. Tasty. *grin

With regards to melon: I love watermelon, but can’t stand the one that tastes and smells (to me at least) of anaesthetic. Can’t remember if it’s canteloupe or galia, but whichever one it is, it makes me retch.

  • Pears - much too grainy
  • Cottage cheese - much too bumpy
  • Mayonnaise - much too slimy
  • Green peppers - just icky, and the essence clings to you, when you exhale, there is still this icky pepperness

Dill pickles. I don’t know how anyone can eat them. They are vile.

Beets. I’d rather die.

Cooked fruit of almost any kind. Especially apple. Apple pie makes me want to puke just looking at it.

SHELLFISH. How can anyone eat that? It tastes like something that has gone bad. Years ago, someone gave me a nice rice & veggie dish…with little tiny shreads of disguised crabmeat to prove I was lying when I said I could taste that stuff no matter how you disguise it. I spit out the first bite and asked “How could you feed me shellfish?” She insisted I could not taste the crabmeat.

I love celery. Particularly cooked. I must be the only person who eats celery paramagina.

Shellfish suck. It smells like it’s going to kill you.

Okra…wtf?

Asparagus…it makes your pee smell funny, and it’s slimey

Canned green beans. They smell rotten.

Beets. 'Nuf said.

Pumpkin Pie.
Gag, retch, puke!

Somebody mentioned oysters-- which I happened to have for the first time this weekend. Let me say this… They taste just like sewer!

In fact… they may possibly be the worst thing I have ever put in my mouth. (Including this nasty pate stuff I had on a cruise.) If you’ve ever seen a raunchy sewer pipe draining into a lake with dead fish all around it. Think of that smell… that is what it tastes like.

Possibly I went to the wrong place. Maybe boiled w/butter or raw would be better… but there is a special place in hell for the waitress who recommended them.

Ugh. Look at the bright side. I live in the South. I was born and raised here. But there’s no way in hell you’re getting me to eat grits.

Blech! Ptooey! I don’t see how people eat them. And heaven forbid you don’t eat them fast enough, because they become gooey, rubbery blobs that only make for excellent missiles in a food fight.

Screeme, I am totally with you on the oysters. Who wants to eat something that resembles a whale booger?

Another vote for:
mayonnaise
celery
Back when I ate meat:
bologna
tuna (the smell grosses me out even now)

I know it’s not really p.c. to rule out an entire ethnic group’s food, but I have never been able to stand Chinese food. Too salty/vinegary.

Well, I hate peanut butter and jelly, and when I was a kid I also hated Oreos and milk.
Yeah, I was REALLY screwed in the elementary years!
Also won’t go near sweet potatos, pumpkin pie, doughnuts/coffee cake/pastries, anything like that.

I am the world’s pickiest eater.

I hate:
[ul]
[li]mashed potatoes[/li][li]corn[/li][li]any type of beans (except for one, see below)[/li][li]tuna[/li][li]macaroni salad[/li][li]chicken[/li][li]turkey[/li][li]any meat besides ham & cheeseburgers[/li][li]cheeto’s[/li][li]muffins[/li][li]bagels[/li][li]oatmeal[/li][li]most cereals, I like cheerios(with tons of sugar, anyway) and frosted flakes[/li][li]oreos[/li][li]any ice cream other than vanilla and chocolate[/li][li]most fruits (can’t get enough watermelon)[/li][li]most vegetables[/li][li]ice cream cake (like that crap they serve at DQ)[/li][li]the vast majority of Mexican food (I’ll eat a burrito with just cheese and refried beans, no tomatoes, no nuthin’)[/li][/ul]

Plus all the stuff I can’t think of right now.

celery and tater tots… they make me gag. I don’t know why… they always have. I can’t eat hash browns either. i like every other form of potato, but can’t eat tater tots.

Someone mentioned a friend gagging over broccoli - there is actually some kind of enzymatic disorder that makes some people ill when they try to eat broccoli and its relatives, if I recall correctly.

I can’t handle onions very well - with one notable exception: if I eat salsa on chips but be sure to not chew the salsa bits up, I’m fine. Other than that, I can’t handle the taste and sensation of biting into onions, and I hate the smell. Plus cutting onions makes my eyes tear up so much that I have to leave the room and wipe my eyes a lot during the process. I think my intense dislike is from getting ill when eating them as a child; now my brain seems to think that onions make me sick. (Otherwise, I’d get ill when eating salsa, I think, but they’re sufficiently “hidden” that if I don’t dwell on what’s in there, and don’t chew the salsa, I’m fine.) My husband loves onions though, so I suck it up and make food for him that contains them, and eat something different myself.

I also can’t stomach rye bread. I got ill and vomited as a child after eating it, and the taste sensation just stuck with me and got linked to being ill.

I have all condiments - ketchup, mustard, mayo, miracle whip, relish, speical sauce, BBQ, whatever. If it’s gooey and goes on a sandwich, I hate it.

I also hate salad dressings - I’m learning to tolerate oil/vinegar because it already comes on salads a lot of places and I love salad. This causes me to hate all cold salads, mac, potato, whatever. I’m a blast at picnics.

salsa, guacomole, sour cream, cream cheese too.

-Lox. Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

-Mashed Potatoes - I think I may like the taste, but I can’t deal with the texture. Do I chew it? No?

-Fish, Tuna, fishsticks, anything that swam. Ugh.

-Tomatoes, unless they’re in a sauce. Raw = gross

-beans that aren’t green, especially those waxy yellow ones

-99% of soups ever invented

side note -
You people didn’t like OREOS?
I no longer think I’m picky.

Eggs of any kind, beets, milk, Swiss cheese, cola (I don’t like any sodas really, but cola makes me want to heave), and organ meats.
