As best I can tell, the newest Harry Potter book can only be sold on June 21st at the earliest. Many stores in my area, (Eastern Daylight Time), are planning on keeping their stores open late Friday, so that when midnight rolls around, they can begin selling.
Now, if I were desperate to get ahold of this book as early as possible, but didn’t want to leave North America, would I be right in thinking of these options:
New Brunswick/Nova Scotia/Prince Edward Island: Atlantic Time Zone - 1 hour earlier than EDT
Newfoundland: Newfoundland Time Zone - 1 1/2 hours earlier
Greenland/St. Pierre-et-Miquelon - 2 hours earlier.
So, I figure I can travel to Greenland, (cause I’m afraid that St. Pierre-et-Miquelon will only have the French version) and buy the book at midnight their time, and call my friends at home and laugh as they moan and wail as it would only be 10pm and they’d have two more hours to go.
Then again, would Greenland have an english version available at midnight? Maybe I should hedge my bets, and hop to Newfoundland…
And what about the carribean isles? Any english book stores making the book available earlier than atlantic time zone?
For that matter, isn’t Guam an American possession, and isn’t it on the other side of the International Date Line. I could potentially stay in the USA, and still buy the book on the 21st and it would be nearly a day before the majority of the country gets it…
