North West is a totally acceptable name

It’s kinda clever actually. Not that I really care[sup]*[/sup]. It just seems like everyone on the internet[sup]**[/sup] is making fun of it.

Link to those who don’t know what I’m talking about:

[sup]*[/sup]Beyond creating this thread of course.
[sup]**[/sup]The internet being Reddit.

Even better if his middle name is Bynorth.

It’s better than Pilot Inspektor at the very least.

I decline to read Reddit. But my problem with clever names is that they expose the child to a lot of teasing later in life. But it’s likely that, since the child is born of famous parents, she or he will be largely insulated from that.

Yeah, I mean, imagine having to grow up being called something like Skald. :p:D

I think the other kids got the message after the first one to make fun of his name was sent to the cornfield.

Her middle name, her. They hung North on a girl.

If only they were intelligent enough to even consider it.

The kid’s gender doesn’t matter. It’s a mildly entertaining name, but nothing more bizarre than one sees on a daily basis. I went to school with a Candace Kane, and as far as I know she survived just fine.

People just love to obsess over celebrities. It’s pathetic, really.

No, it’s a stupid, gimmicky, ignorant, shallow, joke name. Exactly what you’d expect from the stupid, gimmicky, ignorant, shallow people involved. Best I can say is it’s not quite as bad as Apple, but still way worse than simply having all your kids names start with the same letter (which is still a little silly). Could have been worse though, could have been *Bootyrella *or *Kimye *or (somewhat appropriate) Cash-Cow:smiley:

I also went to school with a Candace Kane. Decades later I met a Candace Kane and was surprised to learn it was not the same person. Apparently, if your last name is Kane naming a daughter Candace is not uncommon.

This quote “what’s north of north?” in the linked article. South, obviously.

There’s nothing wrong with the name Apple. Nothing at all.

Maybe it’s because plant and animal names are ridiculously common where I live, but I agree. Apple is fine.

It made me think of the movie This Is Spinal Tap.

“It’s like, how much more north could this be? and the answer is none. None more north.”

Exactly. It shows that they care more about making some sort of point than giving the child a name that she can carry proudly.

“Better compared to…” isn’t ever really better at all, for the most part.

All I know is Alfred Hitchcock’s going to have some 'splaining to do when the kid finally launches his first album “North” By North West.

There’s nothing wrong with naming a child North. It’s as fine a name as any other.

It’s better than taking a perfectly cromulent name and changing the spelling. Kathryn? Emmaleigh? Apply yourself.
