Disclaimer: I look like hell. If you are at all squeamish, do NOT look at the site OR read the rest of this post.
Also, in the last picture, my nose still loooks crooked, but the cartiledge is actually straight down the middle of my face. The surgeon really had to manhandle it to get it over so there is still serious swelling on that side of my nose.
I’ve been told that it takes at least 6 months to see the final results, so maybe I’ll update the pictures again later.
I’m feeling pretty good, no longer taking pain-killers, but still have some bruising. The underside of my nose is numb, can’t feel a thing. I have big old crusty scabs in my nostrils, so I’m still a mouth-breather for the time being.
You’re looking good to me, Sue. I look forward to seeing how you look in a few short weeks, or months. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I’ve been trying to read and follow your journey on this, just got very busy and kept forgetting to post to it. Hope all the bruising goes away soon for you.
Much pain? It looks like you won (or lost) one heck of a bar fight. It looks painful to me. Was it costly? My elegant schnozola has been flattened a few times and I’ve been considering getting it adjusted. However, I have this thing about long needles shoved up my nose, which is what the first doctor after the first encounter of my nose to someone’s fist wanted to do to numb it so he could straighten it in ER. I fled.
(Why do ERs, when you arrive in pain, insist on inflicting more pain on you as a cure?)
i just kept flipping back and forth between before and after pics. back and forth, back and forth. I really like what they did for you. Although te bruising looks atrocious and painful.
hese pics remind me of the old joke about someone’s scab collection. eeek!

No offense, the finished product looks good, but I gotta ask, why have it done?
All the pictures I have seen of you look great as you were. I do not know if there was any breathing problems or any such thing (as I have shamefully not read previous threads) but from a purely physical standpoint you looked great before.
Well, best of luck to you and if you for any reason decide one day to get breast enhancements feel free to post pre and post op pictures. BTW, that goes for the rest of the female dopers out there.
It was about $6000, in Michigan. The surgeon I used is a friend (and co-worker) of my Mother’s.
Pain, not really…but I was taking Vicodin every 3 hours in a pre-emptive strike. I’m off the painkillers now and there is a little tenderness but it is completely bearable.
I’ve had 2 serious nose-breaking accidents (a softball when I was 14 and a fist last summer) so I’ve had to have two major reconstructive rhinoplasties. I don’t envy you in those first few post-op days! Ugh. I especially hated the mouth breathing. Thank heavens for Vicodin and ice. Did you have splints inside? I remember after the first surgery, they pulled those splints out my nostrils and I couldn’t believe how LONG they were! They must have been touching my brain.
This last time, I had to get back to work right away so I still had the cast and the black eyes…people in the building were asking my co-workers what happened to me but nobody would say anything to me directly. Turns out someone started a rumour that my then-fiance (now hubby) had beat me up and my wedding was canceled!
Anyway, the results look great. Post us some pictures when all the swelling and bruising is gone.
