Not a Gamer Chick, but OMG that was FUN! (WoW)

Background:
I have never been a “gamer”. I played Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. on my brother’s NES. I gave the N64 a shot, but eventually just fell away from it. For a brief period of my life, I seriously loved Zoo Tycoon and the Sims, but while it was fun, I never really found myself dying to play it. It was mainly just a way to waste time.

I loved the Sims for the character creation, and then, when the Wii rolled around for the children, I found that I loved making those Miis…I think I made a Mii for everyone I know. Lame, huh?

Fast forward to December 19. My husband’s coworker bought him the WoW Battle Chest for Christmas. The coworker, who is actually more like my husband’s little brother, was totally excited for Stonebow to get online so they could play together. Two days later, my middle child had made a character on the account. Later that same day, my youngest son had made a character. The next day, my eldest son, who had a day off from work, made his character. They were having a lot of fun, switching off playing on the computer, and had leveled their characters to 6 or 8. I was cooking turkeys, making casseroles, and rolling my eyes at them. But they were having fun, so it was all good, even if I didn’t join in or really understand.

Then, I sat down next to one of them while I was waiting on something to cook or soak or the dishwasher to stop or something, and noticed that you get to really “create” a character. Oh. That’s pretty cool. Did I want to make one? Sure. So I made a little gnome Mage with pig tails and ran her around in the snow, killing pigs. This is pretty fun. Whoa… I can have skills? and professions? Cool. I leveled her up to about 15. Then, my husband’s coworker, who has a level 70 Fire Mage (among about 8 others who are 40 and up) relayed to us that we didn’t know what fun was, yet.
Last night, he ran us through the Dead Mines and the Stockade. OMG that was fun!

So my gnome Mage is a level 22, now. We have four accounts, and I want my own laptop for my birthday.

And I have crocolisks to kill today.

No use in denying it any longer, you are officially a gamer chick. Gnomes with pig tails are way too cute.

Hehe. I guess I am, now.

The Mage stuff is way cool, although, my 15-year old son has a Night Elf Hunter with a pet panther…and that’s cool, too. I may have to make another character, but I just can’t decide!

Pah, you’re not a real gamer till you roll Horde.

(Mooma of Eonar (EU), tauren tree)

For the Horde!

Female, with… erm. More characters than I care to admit. Yay addiction!

I love tradeskills but man, it is so easy to just lose all your money that way, trying for just One More Point.

Don’t forget First Aid!

(Lvl 80 undead warlock, lvl 77 tauren druid, lvl 72 troll priest, and…)

Another addict. Welcome to the club.

My main is a cute lil’ gnome girl with pink ponytails and a pair of badass swords. I say stay with the gnome. Gnomes ftw!

Hush up you guys, or I may be tempted to re-activate my account!

Remember that you’d have to play for a month before you can do anything interesting. What’s the point in that when you can choose another game without that “level up” time?

We gotta talk ourselves out of it.

Some of us early the early bits as well at the later bits

(Has a level 80 main – and 14 alts between 6 and 64)

Welcome to the addiction!

(80 mage (main), 80 death knight (current obsession), 70 hunter, and a whole bunch of lower level alts–all but a few of the lowest are blood elves. Yeah, I’ve got it bad. )

Gnomes are awsome, no matter what the rest of my guild says!

level 80 gnome mage flies off in self-build helicoptor… Complete with hula doll on the dashboard!

I used to be in a guild whose main tank was a little female gnome. She was good, damn good, but watching her tank some of the big (size wise) bosses quite funny visually.

That is NOT funny.

stomps off, swinging her pink ponytails and muttering about freakishly large races

Hah yeah we had a female gnome tank whatshisface, the end boss of molten core. Watching him swing a gigantic hammer down and be parried by a tiny little sword was the most hilarious thing ever.

Oh god. Last week I needed a quest item in Shadowfang Keep. Being too low-level to solo my way to the item, I got a guildmate to help out. Level 80 gnome mage. There’s a room where the Captain of the guard and four guards reside, so the guildmate went in alone while I watched from the hallway. As such, I could only see a portion of the room.

Seeing four guards chase a little gnome from one side of the doorway to the other, then seeing the gnome reappear a moment later by himself, is a sight I shall never forget. I was crying with laughter.

I love my little gnome! I got her a different hairstyle, now…some looped in the back Amidala-style braids, and last night I used the lifeforce thingy (I’m also doing the herbalism/alchemy gig) and had to let out a girly squeal as flowers grew all around me.
Ha!

I do have some questions about some wands I’ve picked up, so I may have to pay a visit to the WoW questions thread.

I love gnomes, too. Especially baked into a pie.

I see you like playing Draenei too.

I’ve always thought the early WoW quests were a lot more fun than the endgame. Even though you have cool mounts and epics there’s something really soothing about running around killing boars and picking up logs.

I started a couple characters for the first time last week as well. I’ve been so loyal to my first MMORPG love, the 10 year old 2D Clan Lord, that I felt guilty (my poor girls, languishing in the library, how could I abandon them for something so…mainstream?). On the other hand, OMG, the quests, the eye candy, I’m hooked!

What was weird was I have 2 friends on one server that I know from entirely different online communities. They both came on and were helping me out, and so I ended up introducing them. I don’t think I’ve ever introduced two people I’ve never actually met to each other before.

I’m playing on Stormrage and Kirin Tor, Alliance side. I may roll a Hordie soon on Nordrassil though, I have some friends playing there.
