Not getting iPhone Message Tweets

Yes, I have Googled the problem thoroughly and made sure that all of my settings are as they should be.

  1. In “Sounds and Heptics” I have chosen “tweet” for my text tone.
  2. I have “do not disturb” turned OFF.
  3. If I go to “notifications” and then go to “messages”, I have “allow notifications” turned on. The sound is listed as “tweet” I have “show on locked screen”. I have “show in history”. I have "show as banners (persistent).

There isn’t anything else I can do in terms of saying, “Yes, damn it, notify me when I get a message!”

So, why am I greeted with silence even when a message is sent?

Other people say they have the same problem, but that there is seemingly no solution. Are they right?

To be sure, have you previewed the “tweet” sound when choosing it? It exists and works on your phone?

Good question. Yes, I did, and it sounds loud and clear.

Go to a message from a contact where you haven’t heard the sound. Tap the circled “i” at the top right of the screen. Is the “Hide Alerts” toggled on or off?

Is your ringer on with the loudness at a reasonable level? Volume and ringer are two different things, and it drives me crazy with some applications that use the ringer for sound. I usually keep the ringer switch off.
