Everytime I click on the link in the GQ forum for the “strapping thread” http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=764754
I get a notice that I don’t have permissions to view the thread. 
Just me or anybody else?

This is usually a sock or troll that has been banned and their thread(s) wished into the cornfield. Sometimes the redirect of the thread move gets left behind by accident.
You can always PM or email a mod if you want more specific information.

Interesting. There were something like 16 posts to the thread. I was under the impression that threads generally don’t get deleted around here, just locked.
So what is the general criteria for a thread to get deleted vs. locked?
When will the mods start thinking about the food-chain? Can’t you find a safer place for this stuff?
It shouldnt have been disappeared as it provided some useful information. Corporal punishment was more common than I would have thought in the not to distant past.
Previous thread on the subject. If you must. Until it gets disappeared, I guess.
Depends on whether or not the grain needs a good thrashing, I would wager.
Generally speaking, if the thread was started by a troll, sock, or spammer, we will usually delete the thread. Most other problem threads are just locked.
