Not quite NaNoWriMo '23--an invitation

The formal NaNoWriMo structure doesn’t really work for me, since blasting out text isn’t difficult once I get started. I do like the accountability piece, though. So, I’m working on a book this month and wondered if you’d like to join me here, whether or not you’re doing the formal NaNo thing.

I’m charting how much writing time (not words) I accomplish each day. Although I’m also journaling and fiddling around with other projects, I’m not counting time spent on those, just my current main project. It’s more reflective essays than memoir, with a few poems as well.

Are you in? What are you working on? Feel free to check in daily if that’s helpful or a pleasure.

This year I had a plan, an actual loose outline. So of course on 11/1 I wrote 200 words of something completely different.

Maybe I’ll get back to the plan. I have no idea what the other thing is doing.

This is my first one in more than a decade, and I am exactly on plan after two days. Last time I had an outline, this time was more of a last-minute decision. We’ll see how that goes!

Yesterday, I wrote for several hours. Today was a bit more than 90 minutes, with over 2.5 hours of conversational Spanish groups, so I’m going to wind down with half an hour of relevant reading and note-taking.
