Last year, and now this year, I keep hearing people saying that Baltimore gets it’s wins because they get lucky and teams play poorly against them. The ravens defense makes teams look bad. And if you look at things like yards and time of possession you’ll see that baltimore usually loses these battles even when they win the game. The Ravens offense is bad. WHen they are at their best they don’t make too many turnovers and they get a big play here and there. That’s all they need usually. That’s why a QB like Dilfer could take them to the superbowl. With QB’s and RB’s switching around, the Ravens haven’t really gotten on track yet this year, and yet they’re 6-3. What happens when they get into rhythm a bit? I just had dinner with an old friend who bets a lot of money on football. Last week he put $1000 on the Ravens to go to the Superbowl. 10-1 odds. Now the odds are down to like 6-1. Dang. I might just put $100 down anyway.
Did anyone notice how well Duane Starks stepped up last night? He’s been the weakest link all season but he had a great game. Mostly I noticed that they weren’t even talking about him much after the first quarter. That’s a great game for Starks.
I’m not just saying this because I think MY team may goto the superbowl, but I honestly and objectively cannot see the Ravens getting past the Raiders for the AFC title.
