We have a couple of feet of snow on the ground. Earlier I saw two deer feeding about 25 feet from my house. I figure they are so hungry they are taking unusual measures trying to find food.
So I hear my dogs barking at the window and look out to see a squirrel running up a large tree and disappear into a hole. A few minutes later, it emerged with a nest/ball/something? the size of a soccer ball maybe. It drug it a few feet away and then began eating it. This apparently required some effort because he would drag it a few feet rest/eat then repeat.
So what was it? I think it must have been a stash of nuts stuck together with the ice and snow but I could be wrong.
Any thoughts or ideas?
