Nov '04 Election Comments Thread

Out of curiosity, was your position the same 4 years ago?

damn man, you mean there’s somebody left out there actually trying to keep up with it?

cnn.com is quite good.

Left? I just got out of bed. You Americans can hop into the sack now, I’m taking over (just as soon as anyone tells me where you’ve hidden all that info).

There are many of them.

And BBC (which I closed because of the disconcerting blinking it was doing)

I was about to ask the gang here which of these was most popular as far as providing useful information.

lol , I am assuming both Dems and Pubs will have voting horror stories depending on location.

I am assuming that Team Kerry wants a count , in ohio , but at what point should he seriously be concidering conceding ?

Declan

No.

Man I haven’t left my computer in the last three days. I’ve been campaigning via the internet constantly for the past …3-4 days. I don’t know how many thousands of folks I’ve talked with (not to mention the past several months) but I’ve been shoulder to the wheel buddy.

As of right this minute…even with the prediction that GWB will win Ohio, he still doesn’t have enough electoral votes to win. granted it’ll be a tie but god dammit…I never say die. I DON’T KNOW HOW to just give up…never did. I’ll tell ya about it sometime if you’re ineterested. Where ya at DIO? I know you ain’t no quitter either.

just got up ya say? Priceguy I didn’t notice… where ya from?

Is there ANY chance for Kerry to win in a tie? Is there ANY chance for him to pick up everything but Ohio and get a tie at this point?

I see ya D/C hang in there w/ me boy…fuk 'em

Yep. It was 12:59 a.m. Eastern time. I remember wondering in the middle of my bewilderment how they were going to count the “pool” – by Eastern time? I even remember the look on Brokaw’s face. He was looking off camera and paused. Just slightly before that, Russert had said that Kerry had to carry Ohio and a long list of other states normally in the “Blue” column.

Sorry to be so insistent. But that was how I learned the bad news. I’m glad to know that the other stations aren’t calling it. I noticed that Yahoo! isn’t either.

I HOPE it take two more weeks. I hope it takes two more months. I’m ready drag this thing out and contest and sue until the bitter end. I’ll fight to the last dog. Surrendering is for chumps.

Bush is going to win Iowa, Nevada, and New Mexico. Kerry’s margin in Wisconsin is only 1/10 of Bush’s margin in Ohio.

Kerry should concede. Bush won the popular vote by a huge margin, being the first president in a long, long time to win the support of a plurality of the people. He’s ahead in Ohio by 130,000 votes. If there are 200,000 provisional ballots, Kerry needs ALL of them to be valid (when historically, apparently, only about 10% are), and even if all of them are valid, he needs them to break about 4-1 in his favor - a margin we haven’t seen anywhere else. It’s ridiculous.

It’s no big deal if he waits until morning just to get the last votes counted. But if he declares that he’s going to make everyone wait 11 days until the provisional ballots are counted, he’s just being a dickhead.

Yes, if Kerry were to pick up NV,NM,IA, and WI it would put him at 269 electoral votes. In this case its like blackjack, a tie goes to the house. Bush wins.

I’m with ya, *t-k. I’m like Cool Hand Luke in trhat scene where he’s getting the shit beat out of him but he still keeps getting up and trying to fight until he’s finally knocked out cold.

With 99% precincts reporting in Ohio, Bush now has a lead of 144,000 votes. Kerry’s camp earlier said that they *might have a chance with the provisional ballots if they could get Bush’s lead below 50,000. Didn’t happen.

I’m not willing to concede Florida, by the way. Diebold machines. They cheated.

We still have the lawsuits…and if that doesn’t work, there’s impeachment.

Man how can you be an atheist with this kind of resolve?
[SIZE=1]just kidding dude, you know I respect your beliefs

Did you read where Sam said that Kerry had to win ALL of the 200K votes even thoughhe was only down by 130K… what kinda math is that?
