Thanks, but it could have been a close call on a couple of counts. I was watching the weather reports and went to National early this AM and got out before the weather. Also, luckily, I was in my hotel room on Sunday night, sitting there, watching TV (Family Guy and American Dad, nothing “movie not listed on your bill”, thank OG), and someone tries to get in my door. I also had the chain on, and was fully dressed. Thank OG again. It was an Air France flight attendent who had been given my room. In retrospect, I should have kept her 
I did get all of my internet and taxes on the room comped for the “incident”.
I’m still alive, and a warning to all future tourists: The Washington Monument is really crappy in the rain and fog. Do it on a sunny day in spring or early fall.
