So the guy who goes from car to car in the metro asking for money because he has AIDS has changed his schtick. Now he has a little grey and white kitten. (That kitten is really patient, btw. He put down the backpack he had her in at least twice and she didn’t bother trying to run away.) For a contribution, he was letting people pat her. That’s right, he was pimping a kitten for scritchies!
I wish I’d thought of that. Pet a kitten, $1. That takes business acumen.
(Note, I saw the kitten and while she was a little scruffy-looking, she didn’t seem to be hurt or abused. If I’d seen anything that exceeded the boundaries of just weird, this would be in the Pit and the metro guys would have been alerted.)

He probably gives it a special “scruffy kitty” 'do, just to increase the pitiability factor. I just wonder what will happen when the kitten gets too big to be cute.
Good grief. Why is this a poor kitty? It is not being violated. It is being petted. Maybe the kitty LIKES being petted by a lot of different people.
Like, some people are really good behind-the-ear petters, and others are really good chin scratchers, and other people are good strokers, while some are good at scratching the spot right in front of the tail. My cat, once used to riding the Metro, would probably LOVE it.

I am one of the biggest pro-kitty people in the world, and will talk to a kitty in kitty-talk (are you a dood wittle titty? yes! yes you are! are you my dirl-tat? yes! you are a hussy! yes!) until smacked by a friend or passerby, but I dont think this is a poor little kitty.
Something similar is done in the UK by street beggars with dogs.
I can honestly say that every dog I’ve seen being used this way is in better condition than its owner, but for someone living in such a condition an animal is the possibly the best companion they have.
So far I’ve heard him mention : AIDS, heroin addiction/methadone treatment, homelessness and “just got out of jail” in the last 6 years. You’d think he could change his shtick. On the other hand, he’s been at it for at least 6 years ! There must be a market in the sob business.
Well, “wanna pet my pussy?” is a relatively old means of approaching a man for money, though I can see why it might not be something you feel intriguing, Matt!
To answer a hijack, 3124 is the number of posts made by WallyM7, a witty and erudite poster who died in 2000, friend of almost everyone here at the time, and widely beloved among this community. It’s a way of paying tribute to his memory, as is the use of the :putz: smiley, in memory of his favorite way of pithily identifying a trollish remark.
