Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter - now the Pit edition (Part 1)

Now, now, we don’t call them children in the parking lot, or pedestrians. The proper term is “beta testers”.

Beta tester! Brilliant! Thanks.

I’ve got a friend thinking about a Tesla. I said “Are you sure you want a car whose software can be updated while you’re driving it? And that’s overseen by a nutjob who likes to try programming?”

But now I’ll ask him if he’ll get paid as a beta tester.

Agile child care

 Oh frak me that’s funny.

On Twitter, Elon Musk said the company “learned a lot for next test launch in a few months.”

At least SpaceX might be able to learn from mistakes and not double down.

Not that agile.

Stop. I’m trying to get some work done. Hard to do that while tearing up.

Incidentally, Twitter still hasn’t removed any legacy checkmarks.

Agile lying!

They fired the person who knew how to do that.

Huh. They seem to be gone for me.

Agile Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly!

Yeah, apparently it is happening.

Many users on the platform on Thursday said they lost their verified blue check marks, posting screenshots of their profiles sans verification.

As of early Thursday afternoon, celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian had lost their checkmarks. Prominent TV personalities such as CNN’s Christiane Amanpour and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow lost theirs as well. Public figures relating to all sectors of society, from Bill Gates to Pope Francis, also lost their checks.

Agile Rapid Scheduled Disassembly!

It appears that Elmo found the one person he hasn’t fired who knew where the “turn off verification” button was.

It is now safe to block anyone who has the “I paid a narcissistic billionaire $8 for a meaningless status symbol” icon.

It seems like the only way that celebrities and public figures can make sure that they aren’t confused with an impersonater on t(w)itter is to publicly announce that they no longer use the platform.

Seems fair.

Then what you have is the situation where people stop paying attention to Twitter or using it, because it’s just full of impersonators. And then Twitter dies off.

Still seems fair.

That seems like the optimal outcome to me. Musk loses money and a social media platform dies.

More optimal: he gets kicked from the management of his other companies. For example, it’s rather obvious that he’s holding back Tesla. (I’m okay with letting him stay in charge of the Boring Company.)

I’m ok with him going to Mars so long as he promises to stay and brings a bunch of other billionaires with him.

I’m waiting for the breaking news that he accidentally turned off all blue checkmarks, even for paying Muskrats, because of course he did.
