It’s really become an instant cult, where Trumpism meets Scientology and we get the worst of both worlds.
The larger implication is that something about the current zeitgeist sets a large fraction of people up for cultism. Different folks pick different cults, but evidently lots and lots of people desperately want to belong to some cult.
Who or what is driving that zeitgeist and what can be done to reverse the trend is the $64Trillion question upon which Western Civilization may rise or fall.
Now we understand what the Romans felt like when Christianity started making some serious inroads… “These people believe what?”
There is a concerted effort in certain circles to promote Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt in order to control and influence a sizable portion of the population and to prevent critical thinking from occurring.
It’s working out very well for them.
You know what they say about stopped clocks…
My view on Elmo’s sanctimonious statements on the Constitution is pretty simple. Musk’s only concerns are the First and Second Amendments. The First he interprets as protecting his right to lie with impunity in order to promote himself and his fascist causes. He has said that he supports the Second Amendment because it allows “the people” to overthrow by force a tyrannical government – ironically the very kind of tyranny that he promotes.
So I guess in a way it all sort of balances out in his mind, even though the risk of establishing the kind of tyranny that he promotes and espouses every day is very real, while the idea that a ragged crew of citizens armed with popguns could overthrow it in the 21st century is pure fantasy. The rest of the Constitution he doesn’t care about and probably doesn’t even know about.

I’d be far more impressed if Musk went on to say that Trump’s stolen election claims were complete bullshit.
Elon tweets a painting of black and brown people with their hands up being gunned down by white soldiers while animals are loading two-by-two onto his spaceship to Mars (link spoilered because NOPE);
Or spoilered because then everyone could see that “black and brown people with their hands up being gunned down by white soldiers” ain’t in the painting and what you’re inferring isn’t what’s being implied?
Look he’s a shitty person but you don’t actually have to go down to his level and make shit up.
Isn’t that part of his point in taking over Twitter, that he can tweet ANYTHING and NOBODY can mod him over it? He might as well rename it Troller.
Why don’t you tell me what you think those three men with guns are doing to the crowd at the bottom of the painting?
Well, not gunning them down as such, oh no sir, just pointing the guns to prevent the crowd from getting on the Ark Ship.
I’d like to imagine the Ark Ship upon loading the last animal just shuts the door and takes off and leaves the guards stranded with the rabble.
So I’m wondering how all those animals are going to breathe on Mars. Or so much of anything else, given the temperature.
I’d think that Elon posting this and implying that he is this age’s Noah, and all that we might infer from it, says enough . . . but apparently that isn’t enough insanity for some folks to take from it.
Or maybe - hear me out - there’s a slight chance that the rich white kid who grew up in '70s South Africa and whose father owned an emerald mine powered by apartheid slave labor might be just a wee bit racist.
Yes, I’m aware of that, and I don’t have the slightest doubt that Musk is a racist in addition to all of his other faults…
Now, show us where the “black and brown people with their hands up being gunned down by white soldiers” actually is in the painting?
No doubt, but that doesn’t mean you have to imagine racism in absolutely everything he posts. Shigeru Komatsuzaki was a prolific Japanese artist known for his imaginative sci-fi artwork. That pic is just a typical example of his work. Reading nefarious interpretations into it seems unwarranted, but if you think so, fine. Personally I think it’s enough just to say that this is Elon being his usual man-child self, depicting himself as the saviour of mankind.
