Nm. Nothing to see here.
Welp, Twitter is now blocked in Brazil. And Starlink has had its assets frozen to try to collect on the fines Elmo owes. And the judge has threatened fines for people attempting to get around the block via VPN. Gift link below.
But, likewise, this is likely not an example of Musk attempting to fight for free speech:
→
Musk is choosing which content to boost and which to block on some basis other than a dedication to free speech.
I’m calling in the Cisco Kid!
“Oooh, Elmo!”
Dan
Bluesky has reported an influx of literally a million Brazilians, leading one poster to quip:
< chef’s kiss >
Federal Judge slaps down Missouri and Texas (that Paxton guy again) for using the courts for political purposes to stifle 1st amendment free speech. They were shilling for Elmo and his phoney claims regarding Twittler.
“‘But it falls on the judiciary to ensure that the First Amendment is not reduced to a parchment promise.’ And ‘the most heinous act in which a democratic government can engage is to use its law enforcement machinery for political ends.’ That apparently is what has occurred here.”
an ally to Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, “sent a tweet implicitly calling upon ‘conservative’ state attorneys general to investigate Media Matters’ reporting on X. Within hours, Defendant Bailey responded that ‘[his] team is looking into the matter.'”
Ah, Trump’s lickspittle respawned gestapo chief.
Elmo is a political hack and a hypocrite, yes, still and ongoing.
In an email, he didn’t address his votes but stood by his view about voter fraud.
*“Voting by mail has been recognized as an invitation to fraud throughout the world,” he wrote. *
Musk has criticized voting by mail at least four times this year on his social media app, X, mixing his criticisms with falsehoods and partial truths about U.S. elections — part of a broader pattern of his posting misleading or false claims about election security.
*In January, he wrote: “In the USA, you don’t need government issued ID to vote and you can mail in your ballot. This is insane.” *
But that’s misleading. The standard voter registration form asks applicants for ID numbers, and while the specific requirements vary by state, they generally require a driver’s license number, a state identification number or a Social Security number. And some states, such as Texas, ask for the same information again when people vote by mail. California requires some first-time voters to mail copies of their IDs with their ballots.
And with still more LIES (I’m going capitalized from now on).
In May, Musk falsely asserted that widespread voting by mail was “not allowed” before the Covid-19 pandemic: “Widespread voting by mail (not allowed before the scamdemic) makes proving fraud almost impossible.”
Voting by mail was the choice of a majority of California voters both times Musk voted. In the November 2018 election, 65% of California ballots were cast by mail, according to state records. In the November 2016 election, the figure was 58%.
A three peat for this morning. Elmo is headlining.
Weapons dealers in Yemen are openly using X to peddle a huge range of arms.
The firearms include Kalashnikovs, pistols, grenades, and grenade-launchers, with dealers operate in areas controlled by the Houthis – a rebel group backed by Iran and classified as a terrorist organisation by the US and Australian governments.
Elmo crack team of content monitors hasn’t commented. Elmo, himself, is too busy or high as fuck (IMHO)
He may have misunderstood when he hired his “crack team”.
Elmo for president 2024: “At least he’s not a birther (that we know of)”.
Oh please, next you’ll accuse Elon of being born in Africa.
Even the fanboys in the comments are dragging Elmo for this one;
I liked this follow-up:
It’s doing to Elon exactly what he did to Harris.
How exactly did Elmo make admiral? Can the Cybertruck function briefly as a U-boat?
Just wear SCUBA gear, you’ll be fine.
I can’t wait for Elmo to complain that the Nazi flag isn’t correct since it has a gold fringe around it, indicating that it’s Nazi German flag with maritime jurisdiction.
As an added stupidity, that doesn’t even look like Harris.
Brazil’s supreme court upheld the lower court ruling:
Brazil’s Supreme Court has upheld a ban on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The judges voted unanimously in favour of the measure, meaning the ban will stay in place.
Additionally:
Elon Musk is doubling down on his fight with the Brazilian authorities.
< snip >
Now he is defying the Brazilian government again. Starlink — the satellite-internet service controlled by Mr. Musk that has 250,000 customers in Brazil — told the country’s telecom agency on Sunday that it would not comply with orders to block X, the agency’s president said.
