Now that they are safe. WTF?

Well, are we talking about the actions of the missionaries/aid workers or those who condemn the Afghan authorities for sanctioning such proselytization? I believe I was referring to the latter.

In any event, a decent argument can be made that the aid-workers themselves were imposing their values. Why? Because they (apparently) entered Afghanistan under false pretenses, thereby endangering the success of other aid missions. This is most likely justified in their minds because introducing people to Jesus (in their minds) outweighs any increased risk of ill-health on the part of Afghan citizens. In a very real sense, the aid-workers were subjecting others to their own values.

After some thought, here is my recollection of the facts (and please feel free to correct me):

I believe that the student was shot inside an attached garage.

As I recall, he was not trick-or-treating, but was looking for a halloween party. He knocked and was turned away at the front door by the shooter’s wife. He then entered the garage, and was met there by the shooter, who told him to “freeze.” He continued to advance, was shot at short range with a .44 magnum revolver, and died shortly thereafter.

Of course it’s a total tragedy that the guy died. I’m not trying to justify the shooting in this post.

The point is this: Like I said before, every culture has certain rules, and violating them can be absolutely lethal.
