I presume so? I don’t hang out with right wingers.
I work with at least two people who are all in with the right and it isn’t rubbing off on me.
For clarification, what I meant was that there was no alternative to infiltrating MAGA. It’s the only approach I have not yet seen liberals try yet.
In the past 9 years, liberals have tried every form of frontal head-on assault on MAGA that there is. And it’s done fuck-all; MAGA and Trump are more powerful today than ever. But there has been no real attempt to subvert and hijack MAGA-ism from within.
How is that working for you lately ?
I can’t help notice how often the response to “Republicans are stupid and evil,” is not “you’re wrong,” but rather, “Don’t say that out loud.”
Say what you want. The question is whether or not your communication is advancing your goals.
Communication is only a subset of the issues of the left and of the right for that matter. The truth is that it is very difficult to keep coalitions happy when each faction is quite different and are often only alliances of convenience. What we are seeing now is a realignment of the two main parties with regards to the coalitions that form them and there is no magic wand to keep a sustainable majority.
If it was seriously tried, we’d know. Instead the Democrats have spent decades pandering to the Right and pretending they are reasonable, moral people with a “difference of opinion”.
And as a result have probably lost everything forever. But hey, at least they were “civil” and “respected the norms”, I’m sure that’ll be a great consolation in their graves.
Nah, I was looking for suggestions for actual action, so I believe I’m on the same wavelength as your impression. Even if someone thinks that it’s futile to do literally anything, it should at least be specifically justified so it can be discussed.
Some of us have been fighting the fight for decades and you want to lecture us about giving up? We could have used you back then when it might have made a difference.
What about the above is “lecturing”? I’m just trying to stay positive and actually address what the OP asked.
Yet here we are. Maybe you should try a different tactic, since whatever you’ve been doing for decades didn’t take.
There’s that lecturing again. I guess our new tactic should be to invent a time machine to go back and get people to pay more attention back before the collapse. Maybe pay more attention in the next life.
Not much. Let the MAGA folk see what happens. They claim the government does not do anything. let’s go there!
Let Musk and Ramaswamy do what they plan to do. Strip down every cabinet to a point where they no longer work. Trump is not going to send fire fighters to California fires anymore, because there won’t be any fire fighters. They come from
-U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service and U.S.
-Department of the Interior and others.
It’s just national forests and Yellowstone burning down. Big deal. might hinder the wealthier MAGA reaching all the RV campgounds.
Actually they like wrecking national parks, it “owns the libs”.
I think this is the answer, let it collapse and try to rebuild, maybe with just certain parts of the current US. In the interim, watch them suffer.
I’ve come to the same conclusion. Be careful what you ask for; you just might get it.
Unfortunately, we are all going to suffer some, but I think the red states are going to get hit much harder. Wait until they can’t afford Walmart anymore, and those gas prices don’t go down, and they have less healthcare coverage, and fewer protections leading to them getting sicker and even dying, and are getting scammed right and left by less industry regulation. Only then might they start to wake up and realize they were swindled. Sure, the GOP will try to blame the left for anything negative that comes, but that becomes less effective when you are in control of everything and people can’t afford their rent anymore.
It’s not what I wish for, but it is obviously happening. We are collapsing.
I’ve said before that I think that America’s collapse might be better for the world, not for us, but for the rest of humanity.
There is no guarantee whatsoever that whatever would get rebuilt after collapse would be an improvement. Collapses are all too likely to produce a shitload of people ready to accept anybody who will restore “order”, even if it’s a Stalin-equivalent. They won’t expect to be the ones starving or murdered; especially if they’re already starving and/or think they’re in danger of being murdered.
And if you think you’ll just be able to sit back somewhere comfortable and “watch them suffer” – you’re very likely to find out the hard way otherwise.
I know. It would have been better if America hadn’t elected an insane fascist game show host president, but it did. To expect such a profoundly broken society to come to its sense is absurd. But here we are. For me, I’m going to find next years hurricane season hysterical.
I like this quote…read it on msnbc.
“One of the hopes is that the Democratic Party will begin to understand that voting is not always an act of self-interest but also an act of self expression".
Unfortunately what is being expressed is “we are evil” or “we are stupid.”
