Simple poll. Going back in time, which of the two outcomes do you take?
This makes no sense… If I had hindsight then I would know that Trump had won.
I mean your preference. Which do you prefer?
Because your two choices imply that there will be a country to run for in 2020 and 2024, I’ll take T, then D, D.
Just about anything is better than president Trump. I’d take the risk on eight years of an actual Republican presidency in the future over the current sham Republican presidency.
And I don’t need hindsight for that. I was saying he’d be horrible from the beginning.
I’m with [del]her[/del] him!
I have to admit, as abhorrent and repulsive as Trump is on every level, I’m finding myself amused by this slow moving train wreck. What’s more, I’m at the edge of my seat to see how the shit show will end.
Ding ding ding. I may not agree with a large portion of Republican policy, but I think losing yet another one might give them a reason to reevaluate their views and consider changes. Even failing that, Paul Ryan is within acceptable parameters of wrong.
One choice presumes that trump is a one term president, a loser. The other presumes that Hillary was an unsuccessful president and is followed by two republican administrations. I took Trump '16.
The easier choice would have been 2012. I think most Democrats in hindsight would have taken a Romney defeat of Obama if it means Democratic wins in 2016 and 2020.
I’ll take Hillary, followed by 8 years of Republicans, assuming Trump isn’t one of them. Most of us have survived disastrous Republican administrations in the past, we can do so again.
I won’t take the poll, as the neither choice is an outcome I’d like to see.
Honestly, I’d rather Trump be in for life, if only to keep Hillary out of the white house.
I know he is a complete ass, totally unqualified, and somewhat stupider than a Lazy-Boy Recliner, but he’s still better than Hillary.
In what way? What virtue does Trump have, that Clinton does not have to a greater degree? What vice does Clinton have, that Trump does not have to a greater degree?
Hillary in 2016, followed by 8 years of Republicans. This way, the Supreme Court is safe. Also, Trump wining the nomination for the Republicans without the endless pandering to right wing evangelicals shows that maybe they’ll back off on the endless abortion and gay bashing.
One of the benefits if Hillary had won 2016 would be the refutation of Trump-style politics. That alone would make it worthwhile. We probably wouldn’t have Kevin O’Leary running up here in Canada. Nor do I think Leitch would be doing very well. I think Canadians are going to have their own test next election. I hope we pass.
It is amusing how the Tea Fascists and superPACs who have taken over the GOP have creatd a public perception of Hillary Clinton from an actual political history which has shown her to be a marginally competent legislator and Cabinet official with a penchant for lawyering her words to cover mistruths and poorly judging her close associates and aides into the Thessalhydra of the 2016 presidential campaign. Give how much hate and fear they have managed to endow in this perception I’m surprised there was an election at all; I would have expected that Hillary ‘The Elder Goddess’ Clinton would have simply grabbed power by opening a portal to an unspeakable realm and summoning the Star-Spawn of Cthulhu to smite her opponents in one fell swoop of ichorous devastation. How they tremble and wet themselves in fear of a 68 year old grandmother. Imagine the sheer terror they must have if Angela Merkel were to make a state visit.
And you may well get “Trump for life” if Trump keeps following through with his obsession about “nuclear holocaust”. The obtuseness of Trump about the purpose and risks of nuclear weapons and international conflict is stunning in the leader of the nation with the most effective nuclear arsenal on the planet, and it is clear that the only people advising him are equally clueless. At least with Reagan there was a purpose and rationale behind the bluster, and he was backed set of advisors with legitimate expertise making actual decisions; with Trump it is just stream-of-consciousness conspiranoia, as if a Adam Sandler got the rights to make a sequel to Dr. Strangelove on the cheap and cranked out a Netflix movie with Carrot Top and Rob Schneider. The “Still better than Hillary” meme needs to take into account that we’ve elected a dangerously unqualified pathological narcissist to the one role that could literally destroy nations on a whim or misunderstanding, and Trump is nothing but mercurial and clueless about the wider world beyond his reality show and real estate ventures.

If Hillary would have won, we’d be in exactly the same place we were during the campaign, with 40% of the country convinced that Democrats are trying to ruin our country by turning it communist or Muslim or something, and lamenting the loss of their savior Donald Trump. Hopefully this truly scandalous and evil administration will wake them up to the truth and everyone going along with this farce will be prosecuted as traitors to our country.
