Nude Beaches

FWIW, about the only thing I’ve noticed is that women seem to be slightly more reluctant than men to bare all. When I used to go to Elysium in Topanga Canyon, I would often see women going topless but keeping their bottoms on. Men were more apt to be nude. However, this is only based on my experience over a few visits.

Note that there are some naturist resorts which are not clothing optional, and you are required to be nude for the most part, weather permitting.

I though most naturist resorts required nudity in areas like the pool, sauna, hot tub, etc.

There is often a good reason for this, at least 4 or 5 days out of the month.

Theres one in Key West. It is not far from dog beach where people take their dogs for a swim. The dogs are naked too.

Optional acessories seem to be one (1) bush or shrubbery, one (1) pair of binoculars. At least that’s the impression I get of these places. Never been to one, probably never will. It’s not the nudists that would freak me out, but those guys in raincoats on the clifftops.

There that, and there’s this annoying mucus membrane we’ve got going on “down there” that men don’t. Try opening your mouth and sticking your head in a sandbank. Now think about where the sand sticks when a chick sits on it bareassed. Ouch.

Isn’t that what beach towels are for?

Sure, if what you want to do is sit around on the beach. I prefer to walk around, collect seashells, visit friends, play volleyball (badly), run along the water’s edge and fall onto the sand giggling with friend or three…all activities which, although I like being nude in the sun, sound like no fun a’tall bottomless.

From your point of view.

Selfish. Selfish. Selfish.

Of course, visiting friends while bottomless may result in other difficulties beyond the whole sandy vagina thing.

Since we’ve wandered a little off-topic, I have another question:

Do people who go to nude beaches do so because they like to look at other people undressed? Because they like to be looked at undressed? Or because they just like to hang out undressed?

And is there a difference in motivations between men and women?

(Obviously the guy with the binoculars on the cliff is there because he likes looking at naked people!)

ETA: And the question can be broken down a little further: Like to look at naked people for erotic reasons? Or aesthetic and non-erotic reasons?

I’ll ask you some questions and perhaps that will help you answer yours. Do people who go to regular beaches do so because they like to look at other people in swimsuits? Because they like to be looked at in swimsuits? Or because they just like to hang out in swimsuits?

I think you’ll find that there are many people who would answer yes to the first question, many people who would answer yes to the second question, and many people who would answer yes to the third question. There will even be some people who would answer yes to two, or even all three, of the questions!

My best guess is none of the above – that for the most part, people who go to regular beaches do so in order to engage in normal beachgoing activities, such as sunbathing, swimming, picnicking, etc.

Perhaps a better way to ask my question would be to ask why people go to nude beaches as opposed to regular beaches.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I was answering your questions, not mine.

Bottom line is that I think you’ll find that nude beachgoers are no more monolithic than regular beachgoers.

Because going nude on a regular beach can lead to arrest?

Say, BTW, wasn’t there a short-lived recent thread about free beaches posted by the woman “half” of a couple that frequented them?

(Jus’ li’l ole me!)
