Okay, I’m gonna start with the easy one, the one that really bugs me. I’m quite sure that this is a federal law, but maybe it’s just in Wisconsin. Eitherway, it’s my understanding that a CII drug such as Oxycodone is allowed ZERO refills (and I think no more then a 30 day supply). I’m also quite sure that Jackie would know this and I’m 100% sure that any pharmacist would be well aware of it. Why the hell would she change that script from 0 to 10? Seems like a good way to get caught.
Also, will there be any fallout from her taking all that guys pills?
Add me to the list of folks who wince when he’s on screen. I have trouble with Zoey, but I can at least tolerate her. Eddie has been harder to take as things progress, but Coop is the only one I know the creators want us to hate. He’s presented as Mr. Shit in every episode, and I have yet to spot his “redeeming quality.”
I had meant to start a thread using Edie Falco and Paul Schulze as examples of actors who are often cast together. Can you name other shows/movies where they’ve been in the same cast?
The Sopranos–Schulze played the overly friendly priest with the food fetish.
I think the really bad outcome of this ep is Dr O’Hara figuring out she’s been scammed with the MRI. That’s gonna get real ugly, real fast–that’s a betrayal of friendship there, insupportable and possibly unforgivable. Add in the fudging of the scrip, which could affect O’Hara’s medical license, and you have a shitstorm of monumental proportions starting to crest.
I don’t think O’Hara will get in trouble for the forgery. She might get a slap on the wrist for writing a script for someone that isn’t her patient (though she is an ER doc, so she might be able to get out of that). It’ll be pretty obvious it’s a forgery. Whoever looks into this kind of thing will not only know that O’Hara knows better, but will also be able to look at her other scripts and see that she’s never done that before. Also, I think scripts for CII drugs are in triplicate, so that won’t be a concern if she has two more copies of it.
Also, I’m guessing O’Hara knows about Jackie’s addiction. She’s been giving her Oxy samples since day 1 of the show.
She may suspect addiction, but Jackie is pretty good about turning stuff down and so far all we’ve seen from O’Hara is the kind of incidental “here, have one” sort of transaction that’s common between friends. I think she’d be shocked shitless to know the true extent of Jackie’s problem. And to clarify, I don’t think O’Hara will get into trouble for the scrip, rather that Jackie’s actions, taken without care for O’Hara’s wellbeing and professional standing, will be a huge divisive factor in their friendship. It’s like finding out you loaned a friend your car and they drove it while stinking drunk–just because nothing happened doesn’t mean you aren’t pissed that they risked your car and your friendship in such a cavalier manner.
Did Jackie even use the prescription? I thought she went to fill it, the place was closed and then she lucked into the seizure guy. God, she is such a scumbag.
So Jackie may not even have a bad back. At all. What a scumbag.
She is so going to lose O’Hara’s friendship. I hope she forces her into detox or something. Except I’ll stop watching the show if I have to watch Jackie in detox. I don’t care. She’s a scumbag.
Love Zoe. Love Akalitus. Love Coop. I really feel kinda bad for him being such a shmuck. His whole life is like some weird self-defense mechanism.
I’m not sure if you said that because of this, but he said “The cool kids never liked me” or something along those lines. Now that I think about it, he’s basically the Doctor version of Michael Scott.
That was a pretty glaring mistake. NO way would Oxy get a #10 refill (I think vicodin’s limit is #3)…Jackie would absolutly know this, so that really was lazy writing (or something)
I find it particular that so many people “can’t stand” Jackie, or think she’s a scumbag of a person, etc. She’s an ADDICT. That’s what they do–lie, steal, have secret bank accounts or CC’s so ppl can’t see where certain monies are going. I’m not defending her actions, but I understand them, and frankly I think they do a good job of balancing out Jackie’s personality and character enough that you DON’T just blindly “hate” her. She’s an excellent nurse, always talks to the patients in a respectful and comforting manner, goes out of her way to make sure they get what they need (even if it includes tweaking the system a bit), is a very dedicated mother (and yes, even wife).
For those that say she’s just with Eddie for drugs–they have actually had several scenes where they show her asking herself that question. She DOES have true feelings for Eddie, and wonders if she is in love with two men at the same time (GOD knows why-he is the creepiest, most bothersome character of all with his beady eyes, penis nose and barely-there lips who, for some reason thinks he’s a stud and struts all over the place thinking he’s ultra-man -ICK!)
I think Coop is pathetic/cute. The last few episodes have less of the cocky confident asshole DR., and more of “poor desperate” Coop trying too hard and begging for a lunch partner.
I don’t blindly hate Jackie. She had to work at it. I enjoy hating her. The actor does a wonderful job making me hate her.
If what you say is true, and she genuinely loves Eddie and not just for the drugs, then it’s hard to be sympathetic when Kevin is a good guy and Eddie is a nutcase.
Kevin definitely is more grounded, reasonable, and attractive. Is Eddie really a nutcase though? He seemed relatively balanced until he found out how horribly Jackie had been screwing him over. Since then he has acted like a whackjob, but only with regards to his relationship with Jackie.
I wonder if we will get a ‘secret origin’ episode. Did Jackie really ever have a back problem that led to her drug abuse, or was there some other reason she started using? Did she only only start fucking Eddie to get the pills or was she already having an affair with him. Because she liked him, or because she had marital problems? What were her marital problems then? Why doesn’ t anyone at the hospital besides her Doc friend and the administrator now about her family? Did she take her ring off before work before she started getting it on with Eddie?
Does Kevin own the bar or does he just work there? It seemed like the former last season but now I’m not sure due to Jackie’s comment about “where else would you be? You’re a bartender”.
That’s another thing. Kevin’s taxes are probably more complicated than Jackie’s, so wouldn’t he do the taxes? Wouldn’t they file jointly? How could Kevin not notice Jackie makes more money than she brings home?
How much was that credit card bill? I didn’t get the feeling she’s spending thousands of dollars a month here and what she does spend on drugs could probably just be explained as groceries, gas, stuff for the kids etc…
From what I remember, the normal monthy bill was about $499, and that current month’s bill (because Eddie wasn’t subsidizing her?) was $600 or so. It seems like they’re pinching pennies to come up with the money for the kids’ school, so it seems like Kevin would notice a lot of pennies are missing.
I wonder how much O’Hara gave her? She’ll have to declare that, won’t she?
The show kind of reminds me of Weeds, with the main character starting out nice and sympathetic enough, then gets crazier as the show goes on, with each season ending with her surely getting into trouble she’ll never get out of, and yet does each time.
