NWN 1 Gets it's last patch, anyone interest in some classic gaming?

So Neverwinter Nights 1 finally got it’s final patch (1.69) FAQ and release notes here: http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=639591&forum=42

It seems like the amount of new content is HUGE. Several new tile sets, new weapons/armor/items/classes staggering number of new goodies. So much so that I’m going to install the Diamond version, patch, and probably play through at least one of the official Campaigns (probably the last one) and a few of the mods I missed out on as well as a persistent world or two. My computer is a monster, compared to what I used to play this game on, so the dated graphics probably won’t bother me too much since now I can enable every graphics enhancing option I want.

I haven’t played NWN 1 since… oh about a year before Oblivion came out, It’s been a long while. I loved the game and played on and off for several years after it came out and now, after this final patch, It’s time for some classic gaming.

Would anyone be interested in playing through a short module over the weekend?

Not me. I enjoyed NWN… but the bloody game won’t let me install it anymore, as they printed the code on the bakc on the manual. Which I lost. And I won’t be buying another copy.

Bioware increasingly pisses me off. Although I suppose this was something started long ago and which is only now exploding at me.

Did you ever register the CD keys at the Bio forums? I lost my manuals too, but my CD keys are still on there to be retrieved.

“Classic gaming”? Anything that was released on CD isn’t classic gaming. When you have to install a 5 1/4" floppy drive to play it, then it’s classic gaming.

This was back in the early days of NWN1. My internet connection was 33kbps. Actually, I may have, but if so I long ago lost that account. I mean, I’ve signed up for around 4 different accounts at Bioware, but can’t remember any of them.

I don’t even know where my NWN, or the expansion I bought, is. Maybe I should get the Diamond edition.

Sweet… this prompted me to finally go out and buy my own copy (I used my brother’s copy back in the day). With Diamond Edition available for $15 I really had no excuse not to. I think I still have my old characters around here somewhere…

I think I’ll replay! I have the Diamond, but lost my last game on a hard drive that crashed. I enjoy NWN more than any other game I’ve played, because I get flustered with having to be too coordinated or use too many keys.

Has anyone else tried the NWN2 and found it lacking? I have a relatively decent computer, and it is so laggy that it is frustrating. I hate the “voices” for the NP characters-- just goofy and ridiculous. Also, the camera angles make me dizzy… If others have played it and found it fun like the original, I might be willing to try to get past the learning curve.

That cheap? I might give it a shot, then.

It gets better as you go, until the end.

NWN 2: It’s much better now than what it used to be in terms of performance. The first expansion pack for it - “Mask of the betrayer” also improved on the story elements considerably, and even wrapped up some dissapointing loose ends from the original campaign. There’s a new expansion coming out called Storm of Zehir, looks promising.

I couldn’t find my game disks, so I got Diamond for $5 (after coupons) at bestbuy. I think I still have my old keycodes if anyone is interested in them.

Mask of the Betrayer is just excellent. The OC wasn’t bad, per se, MotB is just so much better.

NWN1 is one of the few older games that I have pretty much pemanently on my system, just because there’s so many player-created modules that are good.

In case you guys install diamond. You have to run the 1.66 patch on the game DVD itself BEFORE you run the updater.
