Not sure if this gift link will work. But if it does, how many of these prominent 2025 faces can you recognize?
Only five… Jane Goodall, the socialist mayor guy (couldn’t remember his name though), Maduro, the PITT doctor (dunno name), and the two AI guys (Jensen and Altman).
There were a bunch of actors I’d seen in movies, but didn’t know the names of.
What was the average?
31/59 here. Some I had heard of but didn’t recognize their face. I somehow confused Jimmy Kimmel with Jimmy Fallon and Diane Keaton, Mia Farrow, and Noah Wyle for George Clooney. I knew OF the girl from Hunter/X but didn’t know her name. There were only a few I didn’t recognize altogether.
31/52. A couple I missed I should’ve recognized, the picture fooled me.
45/52
I follow politics closely and got all but one.
Weak spot was the athletes.
Was greatly helped in the area of pop stars by the fact that I have two teen daughters and a wife who constantly listen to the latest artists.
Only 30/52. I though Bad Bunny was Chalamet. I suspect that most of the names I missed were under 30 years old.
27/52 for me.
I got 21 of 52. Many of the ones I didn’t get, I had no clue who they were even when the names were revealed. But there were at least three where I would have recognized their younger selves.
37/52, missed all of the athletes and most of the younger musicians. Feeling old now.
Out of curiosity, how do you all come across these people? Like, do you know them just from exposure on the news and social media, or do you actively seek out celebrity tabloids, new musicians and athletes, etc.?
Do any of them have a noticeable impact on your lives?
For me, I enjoy late night shows and interviews shows like Hot Ones. I can’t name a single Bad Bunny song but I know him from Bullet Train and SNL.
I got 32/52 I didn’t know any of the athletes nor the foreign political figures.
Since this was presented by the New York Times, I assume that these are all people who have appeared in the NYT over the past year, though I don’t know for sure since I’m not an NYT reader. But I know that at least some of them have been in the news this past year, for various reasons (for example, those who died in 2025), and I assume the others have too.
24 of 52. No idea who any of the athletes were or the majority of the pop stars/actors.
I got 32/52. I should’ve gotten 33, but I called the SoD “Mike Hegseth.” I knew it was Pete, I just went too fast and didn’t think before hitting submit.
The most obscure one I got was Tim Robinson (only 19% of respondents correctly ID’d him).
38/52. My official score was 37/52 because it didn’t accept “Little Marco Rubio” as a correct answer. Almost all of my misses were singers. I’d heard of most of them (and had heard music from many of them) but had never seen them.
My most obscure answer was Trammell Tillman at 11%, but I don’t deserve full credit because I could only recall his last name. My next most obscure was A’ja Wilson at 18.
Once I realized it would take last names only that’s all I did, mostly out of laziness. But it was also interesting how permissive it was with misspellings. It also took “RFK Jr” but I wasn’t brave enough to try “MTG” or “JPow”.
Sometimes with last name only it would say “close enough” and other times it wouldn’t. I’d be interested in seeing their fuzzy match tech.
45/52. The only one I missed that I should have known was Tramell Tillman. I recognized Mahmoud Khalil but just couldn’t remember his name.
It accepted MTG. After it took RFK, I figured why not?
21/52, not a surprise since I’m in ostrich mode, avoiding political news.
30/52. I knew the political figures, and most of the actors and athletes; I did poorly on the musicians.
I should have done better on the actors – there were a few whom I know pretty well (Emma Stone, for one), but for whom the pictures they chose didn’t really look like them, to me.
