Oak's College Pick'em '11

How about Jacksonville State over Kentucky? Oooooohhh…dramatic!

Well you are not going to make up a lot of ground on me because those mirror my picks.

OK…I picked GaTech over Miami too. We’ll call that the official Upset Special of the Week, to retain harmony in the cosmos. And that’s the only pick I made in the right hand column this week, so at least three of us should tie…

How about Washington over Stanford, and Michigan State over Wisconsin? In both cases the favorites are very good, but they haven’t yet played anyone of the caliber of their underdog opponent.

Assuming we get them all right of course.

Those are two of the five “underdogs” I have picked.

Ouch…dead last for me this week. Oklahoma and Wisconsin both losing killed me in confidence points.

Courtesy weekly bump. Get your picks in.

19 games this week. IMO, not many close calls, except for the Neb-MSU game. UGA/UF game might have some difference of opinion/

I made my picks w/o the OAK upset special, as have Beasley and USCDiver.

My Upset Special is indeed Nebraska at home over Michigan State–which is NOT MSU. Mississippi State is MSU.

Get back with me when Mississippi State actually wins a Conference Game.

[Toot Toot] Honking my horn as I was the only contestant to pick GT over Clemson. [/Toot Toot]

Another win for the RAMBLINWRECKAGE! No matter how the Stanford/USC game finishes.

BTW, just how in the hell did Iowa St beat the dog crap out of Texas Tech, at Lubbock?

Didn’t TTU just beat Oklahoma last week.

Was TTU’s hangover that bad?

That’s just some of your basic TT (Tommy Tuberville) at play/work.

Congrats for Ga-Tech now owning The Belt!

21 games on the docket this week.

Your Upset Special is a twofer:

Alabama at home over LSU

South Carolina on the road over Arkansas
Bama/LSU is a must watch/Game of the Century event. Whoever wins will likely be the next SEC/BCS champion…unless there’s a rematch…

Some “upset special”! 'Bama is at home and favored by 5 - 5.5.

Oak, I agree with divemaster that isn’t much of an upset.
Personally I would be upset if Bama lost.
Surprised as well.

LSU is ranked #1 in the BCS standings, so Bama winning would count as an upset in my book. Then again, my upset specials are almost always wrong, so I may have doomed the Crimson Tide, and earned the eternal wrath of the Ghost of Bear Bryant.

FWIW, I don’t think picking the #2 team at home over the #1 team is an “upset special”.

That said I am picking LSU. But it will only have 1 or 2 confidence points.

Same here. I have seen several polls (started some myself) where the preponderance is in favor of LSU. Nobody who’s spoken of their predictions is calling for a runaway by either team. My benchmark is the Auburn-LSU game of 2006. Brutal, low-scoring, battle of wills and bodies.

Well, considering I am both the Commissioner of the League and the ultimate authority in deciding what is and is not an upset special for purposes of this league, I hereby declare pfui on both of you. The upset specials previously announced stand. In big giant neon letters. So there.
