Oak's NFL Fantasy League 2013

I’m surprised I’m rated so highly, with no STAR QB. I’ll be rooting for AP to get that 2500 yard season he’s dreaming of. I actually think I did okay.

FEAR ME.

Remember the season starts tonight with Baltimore @ Denver, so get your lineups set if you plan on using players on those teams.

Woo! Just made it home on time!

Ready to rock and roll!

Have fun everybody!

Fun will had be me, that’s for sure!

Huge numbers put up tonight…and I had nobody playing in this league. Do have Manning and Welker in a random league I joined, so it’s still a good night.

97 points between 2 players, yeah I’m good with that.

Not having seen the game, imagine my excitement when, having Eric Decker, I saw the final of 49-27 with Manning throwing 7 touchdowns; then imagine my disappointment when I checked the box-score and saw that Decker had only 2 catches for 32 yards and none of those 7 touchdowns.

Well a funny thing happened to me on the way to the draft: I went to a the doctor’s instead. Nothing life-threatening but I came home a day later to see what the Auto-pick had done on my behalf. It had picked a little light on QBs but some nice RBs, TEs and WRs.
I got a kick out of the grade the site gave my draft, which was an 'A". Not surprising, I guess when the machine that made the picks was using its own evaluation algorithms to generate the draft grade.
So used all of the number-crunched info I had made for myself pre-draft and corrected my lineup last night. I’m much happier now with bye week distribution and general performance.
A question regarding lineups for the upcoming week’s games: if there is a Thursday night game can you still make changes to your lineup for the Sunday games on, say, Friday and Saturday?
Good luck to all; not really, of course, but it’s the right thing to say.

Only players who’s teams have played are locked at game time. So you can still adjust if you don’t have players who have played.

Well then, that lightning storm in Denver last night was a blessing for the Flying Megasharks who undoubtedly had Peyton on the bench until granted the half an hour reprieve to get him into the starting lineup.

Will someone explain the difference between waivers and free agents. I just saw a message that said “All free agents will become waivers 8 Sept 2013.” It appears so far that they have been behaving in the same manner of being able to be picked up and dropped will-he nill-he so for. What changes are in store following Sunday’s games?
…and I’m being shut-out 7-0 so far! Oh, the humanity!

Me, not so much. The season hasn’t even really started and I’ve been beaten and bloodied.

Players go on waivers from the beginning of Sunday games (or Thursday if they play then) until the end of the day Tuesday. Basically, you put in your pick, and if no one else ahead of you on the waiver priority picks him, you get the player on Wednesday. You can see the waiver order on the standings page. It starts out in reverse draft order, and then you move to the bottom once you get a pick off of waivers. Also, whenever a player gets dropped, he goes on waivers for two days. Basically, it’s to keep people from having to sit at their computers trying to be the first one to pick up a player.

Ah, thank you. Before the first game it looked like waivers and free agents were the same thing. I am clear, now. Once you put in a request for a waiver pick-up are compelled to pick the player up, or may you still decline the addition?

You pick him up automatically once the waiver period is over.

Well, shoot. I missed the first weeks Pick 'Em from lack of awareness. I guess I’ll just have to make up the slack.

I’ve got 36 points, Victor Cruz, James Jones, and Eddie Lacy against Romo, Cobb, and Davis after the first games today. I was a 20 point underdog going into this week, but I like my chances for the upset…

Not liking my chances now. Cobb and Davis both have big games, while Jones put up a big fat 0 for me. Down 17 fantasy points, with only Cruz left against Romo.

Cruz came through with a monster night. Barring stat corrections, looks like I squeaked out a win this week.

Damn you Cruz! If Jacoby Jones hadn’t got injured, I probably would’ve won this one.
