I realize you are paranoid. I have no idea what ‘Freep.’ This troll talk is too trite for words. Is this one of those message boards for people who have been banned everywhere else? Conspiracy I can deal with, but paranoia is an unproductive activity. I won’t put up with it.
I have not heard of what you are talking about. Chicago style politics are real. They call things as they are. They solve real problems, now. Sure there is a striving for utopia in the future, but in Chicago they take care of today’s problems today.
If you let right and left wing-nuts run things nothing would get done. The current debt ceiling issue in Washington is testament to this.
Frankly, I place little value on people who chase political wind mills. The word ‘progressive’ says it all. And, that is Chicago making progress and overcoming obstructions.

Again, while I am not from Illinois, I consider myself part of the Chicago approach to politics. You want corruption? Name any city, state, or nation. In my opinion ALL humans have some form of corruption.
New Mexico would have to be the most corrupt state I am familiar with. They keep throwing state office holders into jail, and no one bats an eye. Their television news is a plethoria of criminal activity. No wonder they are nearly in last place in everything from education to Medicaid.

Every field of human endeavor has its specialized vocabulary, and in politics “progressive” – as used in American political discourse now – means something more specific than that. It means something well to the right if “socialist” and well to the left of “liberal” – in European terms, roughly equivalent to “social-democratic”. See here for discussion.

Senator Bernie Sanders suggests a primary challenge from Obama’s left. (But he is emphatically not offering to run, some “progressive Democrat” would have to do it. Sanders is an independent – not even a Socialist Party member or Vermont Progressive Party member, just a self-ID’d “socialist” with no party affiliation.)

Yes and no. “Progressive” in the modern vernacular is what liberals started calling themselves a couple years ago after the GOP made liberal a dirty word.
