Today, May 9th 2008 with several states left in the primaries - pundits, talking heads, news agencies, gardners, electricians just about everyone is saying Obama is the nominee. I certainly don’t see very many ways Obama will not be our nominee for the democratic primary.
That being said, I’m hearing reports that Obama is changing gears and looking at strategies to beating McCain in the fall. Here is one cite from the Wall Street Journal and it is already two days old.
As of Today Obama has pulled ahead of Hillary Clinton with superdelegates - meaning Obama now leads Clinton on every front. Changing his focus to McCain and winning the hearts and minds of Clinton supporters is a logical course to take in my opinion. It gives Obama’s campaign some time to strategize against the republican onslaught soon to come and allows him time to really strengthen his platform for the coming race in autumn.
Personally, I think keeping an eye on the prize and an eye on Clinton - at least for the next couple weeks - gives Obama a little more time to begin his national campaign and strategize his next course of action.
My question is: Will dems unite behind Obama sooner than later? I wonder how many Clintonites will end up backing Obama - I project quite a few.
