Obama v. McCain: Start your engines!

This may be true, but McCain was better looking when he was younger than Obama will ever be. Compared to that McCain, Obama looks like the class nerd.

Wow. He was hot.

Though if he looked like that now, I’d still support Obama.

I doubt that. I’d say it’s about 3:2 Obama, but the Obama supporters attack and scream down any who dare to disagree with them, so why bother?

The obnoxious of Obama’s supporters is actually making me considering a write in for Prez. They really need to tone it down about three pegs.

Some Obama supporter sent me (and like more) dudes here a PM, actually suggesting to get obnoxious to gain support.

Actually, from an opinion as a straight guy, I’d have to say this photo;

is about as manly handsome as you can get.

You would not vote for someone because of what some of their obnoxious followers felt? Come on now, if there is one thing I have garnered from your posts’s it’s that you will vote for who you think will do the best job for America.

I believe the world would look at a McCain presidency as Bush’s older brother, nope the US can’t change their ways, they are going to stay the same for evermore.

I think the world may look at an Obama presidency as saying, wow - maybe they can do something right, maybe they are turning over a new leaf.

Yeah, you are right.
But they piss me off none the less. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t worry about it. Someone has to trot out the “I’d vote for him, but his supporters are just so obnoxious” line every election cycle. I’ve seen it more times than I can count on these boards. You’d think the fallacy in that reasoning would be instantly obvious.

I must admit I’m happy it’s over…no more polling until the next primary.

Small prediction for the coming month. In June we will see Obama’s numbers against McCain skyrocket. Giving hima large boost before the convention, and then it will plateau.

If by “undecideds” you mean those who have a clear preference for one candidate or the other but are undecided about whether they’ll get off their asses on Election Day and vote. Those “undecideds” are far more common than the ones who plan to vote but truly have no preference between Barack Obama and John McCain.

Let’s just say that I’m tired of all the partisan idiots on these boards attacking me as a “DINO” or something worse because my Democratic roots go back to when the party made sense and stood for something other than pandering to each individual’s desire to make government give them something that other people pay for, or promise to favor their particular race/creed/color/orientation over everything else. Conservative Democrats have a long and proud history, even if we’ve been run out of the party lately because we don’t buy into the politics of division.

That being said, if I didn’t live in a Democratic state, with closed primaries where which Democrat is chosen to run by said primary is the only real race, I’d register independent in a heartbeat.

I’m thinking “undecided” means “able to be convinced to vote for either candidate, depending on the circumstances and the effectiveness of their campaigns”. Since both candidates have bigtime appeal to people to average center-dwellers I’d say there’s a huge number of undecideds.

I think most people here underestimate John McCain’s appeal as a candidate. He’s a very popular man, and Bush jr. taught us that even UNPOPULAR Republicans can win elections.

And you exclude yourself because…?

I don’t think Brainglutton is running.

Daniel

Running for what? He laid out what the debate is, and then explicitly said, “Give reasons, please, this ain’t IMHO,” but gave no opinion of his own much less a reason. But you know that. So what is the point of your comment?

Tongue-in-cheek misinterpretation. He’s reading “And you exclude yourself because…?” as a response to “Who would make the better POTUS? Obama or McCain?” not “Give reasons, please.”

Didn’t want to put my endorsement in the OP. Let others have a chance to weigh in first. Everybody on this Board knows I back Obama and why, anyway.

 What color is the sky in your world? Conservative Dems have been running the party since 1992 at least; it’s the left that’s been marginalized. And I ain’t optimistic the Obama nom heralds any real change there.

Okay, well same same for me. So how 'bout them Cubs this year!

And at 5’ 7" taller than Alan Ladd with Tom Cruise on his shoulders.

Holy Shit!

Someday you’re going to have to tell us when this golden age (by your standards) of the Democratic Party was, but that probably deserves a thread of its own, if you’re interested in having that discussion.
