Obama

Though, I did finally get some use out of that chainsaw (built one that used a gasoline motor, and durned if that wasn’t the peppiest little tool, perfect for chopping down a shambling horde)

No, not really. All they have to do is pick the bicycle up. A genuine, legitimate racing bicycle that a serious racer would ride weighs around 17lbs (about 21 for a racing recumbent). There is not latitude for hidden motors in that, the weight would make them way too obvious.

Maybe not so obvious.

And? Do you feel that ISIS should be running around unopposed? The war in Afghanistan had accomplished its main objectives and Iraq was a clusterfuck from Day 1 so both withdrawals and the actions against ISIS were the right things to do.

Libya is more complicated but the US wasn’t the instigator – France was the prime mover and the actual no-fly zone enforcement and subsequent events were led by a NATO coalition. The nominal reason was the humanitarian crisis created by Gaddafi crushing the Arab Spring revolt, and even if there’s some controversy about how valid that was, Gaddafi had a long history of terrorist involvement and financing. Unlike Saddam, Gaddafi really was a global threat.

Meh. Velocity is just trying to be an anti-Obama gadfly. Not worth addressing.

Were those *bad *ideas, or were they only bad because he did them?

Maybe al-Baghdadi too. Not clear though.

That’s impossible. MR. Trump tells us that Obama is actually in cahoots with ISIS. And Trump never lies.

Waitaminute, I thought we were supposed to hate Obama for not doing enough about ISIS. I mean, I could have sworn that most of the Republican Presidential candidates, including the presumptive nominee, have been hammering on that theme for months.

Oh, well, must have been my mistake. We have always been at war with EastAsia.

And his ISIS overlords instructed him to bomb them. It’s a play for sympathy.

How do we know they’re actually bombing anyone? Maybe they’re just dropping them in the desert.

You know, that’s what we’re really missing here. ISIS Truthers. Crackpots who believe that ISIS doesn’t actually exist and the war is all a scam.

Is there a CT version of Rule 34?

Obama himself expressed regrets about not preparing for “the day after” the Gaddafi regime fell and the subsequent chaos that followed.

And Obama has overseen 300+ more drone strikes than his predecessor. (To be fair, drone strikes hadn’t fully come into vogue as a form of targeted killing during the Bush administration yet, technologically speaking, so maybe GWB could have given Obama a run for his money.)

Obama during the 2012 presidential debates: “Our defense spending has gone up every year I’ve been in office” - and he also presided over a $60 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia, the largest in US history - the Saudis, by the way, are in some ways almost as repressive as ISIS, but they’re a more dignified regime in the eyes of the world.

If Americans were hoping, eight years ago, that Obama would be a president who would rein in the military-industrial complex, he wasn’t it - and Hillary won’t be, either, for that matter.

I’m aware of that, but that’s a completely different question than the one about whether intervention was justified and who was involved in it. Of course if the point here is just general Obama bashing, then carry on. I don’t recall Bush ever expressing regrets about the mega-fiasco in Iraq, one greatly exacerbated by the fact that it was completely unnecessary, destroyed a nation, cost thousands of lives and untold treasure, and greatly worsened the terrorist threat.

I don’t recall that being a particular hot-button election issue. When Obama was elected in 2008 the economy was in shambles, the ongoing major wars were the dominant concern, and health care had been a worsening problem for many decades. And he dealt with all of those.

You must be mistaken, because during the Republican primary debates, they all said that Obama had gutted our military.

Pitting the lame duck President … is there no shame here at all …

You misspelled “brains”…

See None Dare Call It Sleazy, Illuminatush! and the Protocols of the Elders of Sodom.

 There isn’t a lame duck president, not until November.

Or was that a joke?

Ok, I’m going to go back to the OP here and deal with point by point.

Very broad charges that really depend on how much you buy into all the conspiracy and slander crap. Republicans have been investigating this woman for more than 20 years. You’d think they’d have actually managed to prosecute her by now if they could find something, anything they could prosecute her over. Otherwise, this is pretty much “Well that’s just, like, your opinion, man”.

Is she a great person? Not to me. She’s a career politician, even when she wasn’t the elected one on the team. But there’s no question that she’s qualified, and she most certainly is NOT Donald Trump. Or any one of the other Republican screwheads.

Is this like some magic spell or just a ‘gotcha’? He has to use the words, he has to use the words, he has to use the words, he has to USE THE WORDS!!!

Ronald Reagan Total 381
George HW Bush Total 166
William J Clinton Total 364
George W Bush Total 291
Barack Obama Total 242

So, he’s issued far less than George W Bush, Bill Clinton or Ron Reagan. Sure. Makes sense. He’s a monster, dictating law like that, in complete defiance of the precedents set out by those before him. Yup.

The NRA may scream at you every day about how Obama (or whoever else they don’t like) is going to steal your guns, but only Congress can do that. That and I wonder what the fuck you mean by ‘morally, logically, nothing can be said to infringe’. You’re saying that anyone who says ‘hey, maybe we should have some limits here’ is morally and logically reprehensible?

Well let me tell you. I was an NRA member up until about a month ago. When LaPierre and those morons took over and brought in their scummy, corrupt friends, I declared that I would never give them another dime until all of those assholes were gone and sanity returned. Then I just didn’t want to deal with it. Finally, last month I jumped through the hoops (they don’t make it easy) to resign my membership.

I’m not giving up my guns and neither are you, but this idea that we cannot have tighter checks on purchases is pure bullshit.
