Supporters and detractors agree: D.T. says some “wild” things! Let’s suppose that some of these pronouncements are made in a calculated effort to distract us from noticing things some might consider even more outrageous. Would he have developed this “skill” as a businessman? If you think so, describe how a person might use that particular ability during a business transaction.
I don’t think he developed the skill as much as it turned out to be a personality disorder that proved out to be successful. I owned a small construction company for several years and have dealt with a few mini Trumps in my time. He is over the top and a lot of people just don’t know how to take it so they cave. The momentum builds because he now has great financial success behind him to validate his insane style.
It’s a strategy calculated to distract and misdirect conversation. His incoherent rambling and paucity of language is evidence of his limited intellect.
His behavior is found in a certain kind of businessman. I’ve seen it several times. I think it’s pointless in the end. I’ve seen it exhibited by the salesman type, natural con artists, the kind they’ll say can sell ice cubes to Eskimos, but really just sell good products in an otherwise cumbersome manner. I think those people could do just as well dealing in a straightforward method, and they delude themselves into believing that the song and dance is what makes it work.
These are also the kind of people who become useless once the sale is made. They are salesmen, they need to sell something, they aren’t the account executive type, they leave followup for others to do. That may not work so well for politicians. The voters tend to want the same person on the front end and back end of the deal.
If this is a thing brought about by his business experience, it likely grew because his businesses kept on failing. The ability to distract from known facts is much more valuable to a “successful failure” like Trump than they would be to one with a more consistently successful career.
