Obi Wan Kenobi series to start filming in March, {Now showing as of June 2022}

IIRC they were mostly taken out by the Jedi and apprentice from Rebels, with a major assist by Ahsoka Tano (the force wielder played by Rosario Dawson on the Mandalorian) and Darth Maul.

Rebels last season was the leadup to Yavin.
I wonder if they will be in Andor.

Admiral Motti really screwed the pooch when he taunted Vader didn’t he. What did he miss the battalions of Force users who served the Empire?

Yes, but in A New Hope, Luke wonders if R2 is referring to old Ben Kenobi over in the hills over yonder.

But it’s also canon that the Sith’s downfall is pretty much always due to their own hubris. They’re honestly convinced that they are the most powerful person in the galaxy, and that they can corrupt and impose their will on anyone they desire. I mean, look how much effort both Vader and Palpatine put into bringing Luke over to the Dark Side. Both of them thought they could use Luke to destroy the other, but all they ended up doing was destroying each other.

And let’s not forget, she also had a hate on for the Jedi, who took her away from her family as a child, and then completely screwed the pooch when all her friends got murdered by a rogue Jedi. Doing her best to kill Jedi is just a natural fit for both her motivations.

Man, I could feel Ben’s heartbreak at the end of his duel with Vader. That scene could have been horribly acted, but McGregor’s conviction to the role saved it. And it was cool to let him Anakin one last time through his broken helmet.

I wasn’t thrilled with Reva’s change of heart to save Luke, but I understand why it had to happen. Plot armor.

He Anakined through his broken helmet during his battle with Ahsoka, too. Pretty much the same moment.

It’s based on several stories in the old EU where his face mask got damaged.

Meh.

They’ve been going downhill since S1 of Mando. This not as bad as Book of Boba but hitting all the predictable notes without any actually interesting character development is just boring.

I was really going to be annoyed if it had Luke seeing a lit lightsaber, but they at least made him unconscious at the time.

Just how the hell did Reva get to Tatooine? Did they explain that? Did Vader very politely leave a ship behind for the woman he left in the gutter to die?

I really liked it. I hope they do more episodes. McGregor is onboard with that. BTW I saw the original in theater in 77

I enjoyed the ending. While these were subtle, there were, for me, two points which explained certain plot issues vis-a-vis A New Hope:

  • In the original movie, Leia’s holographic message only refers to Obi-Wan’s relationship with her father (“Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars”). And, yet, in this series, the two of them get to know one another quite well. I had been wondering, “So, if she knew him so well already, how do we square this with the fact that her distress message didn’t say something about that?” When Obi-Wan is about to leave Alderaan, he tells Leia that they might meet again, but that they both need to be careful. This could explain Leia’s message not mentioning her friendship with him – if it were to fall into the wrong hands, it could be damaging information.

  • In the original film, Obi-Wan told Luke, “Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine, before he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father.” When Luke learned that Vader was actually his father, he was angry about Obi-Wan withholding that information – and justifiably so. But, at the end of his fight with Vader in this episode, when Obi-Wan apologizes to Anakin, he’s met with the reply (paraphrasing), “Anakin is no more. I killed Anakin.” So, while Obi-Wan didn’t give Luke the entire truth, he did accurately present what had happened, in Vader’s own words.

Point #3: he calls him “Darth”.

Ben seemed to make it to Tatooine in record time. From the duel, he made it before Reva brought Luke back to the Lars’.

I thought this too, and re-watched Leia’s message from IV. Her famous final line “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. Your my only hope” has a more “familiar” and “old friend” vibe to it than the rest of her message, so it’s possible to ret-con that she was appealing to him personally, as someone who got to know him several years prior, but was doing her best to keep it on the DL. I mean, she could’ve said “You’re the rebellion’s only hope,” but she made it personal. Suggests a prior relationship.

She also is pretty unimpressed with Luke’s rescue until he mentions Ben Kenobi.

Let’s face it, she wasn’t expecting to be rescued by those three idiots in their Winnebago.

I think Reva’s story would have been better served by just dying at Vader’s hand. You could have excised her whole plot from the finale and it wouldn’t have changed a thing.
