Obi Wan Kenobi series to start filming in March, {Now showing as of June 2022}

At the end Obi Wan hugs Bail but not his wife. A mistake or some cultural thing?

I caught that too. I took it as Bail being his long-time close friend with whom he had many shared experiences, etc. The wife is someone he’s met occasionally, but isn’t that close with.

cultural, as she is the queen; also he is closer to bail as a senator and after the events of mustafar.

Right. Bail is a long-time personal friend.

The queen is his friend’s wife. Not so personal, that relationship.

Loved the use of original music near the beginning, during the chase.

As I’ve said elsewhere, if you want to do a new Star Wars series…just adapt The Force Unleashed. In fact thats what they should have done for a post credit teaser.

Would have broke the internet. “Are those Wookies? Is that Vader?? IS HE CURBSTOMPING WOOKIES??? ITS HAPENNNNING!!!”

Edit: Or adapted Vaders convo with The Emperor so Vader could end the convo with “No…there is another.”

And Starkiller steps out from behind Vaders throne.

Only problem is that the main events of The Force Unleashed happened when Leia was 16, and she’s only 10 in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I was wondering how reva would know how Luke could be anakin’s son. As only 7 people know the padme/anakin connection. 1 is dead (padme), 3 think she died before the children were born (anakin, palpatine, and the wedding officiant), and 3 know the children survived (yoda, obi wan, bail). Owen and beru know that Luke is anakin’s son, but I don’t think obi wan told them about leia; they did meet padme so they may have made that connection.

Then I was reminded that reva is in on the anakin to Vader secret. When she got to tatooine to search for Owen and Luke she would have heard Luke’s last name. That is an easy 2+2.

Now we have 6 people knowing that anakin has a son ( yoda, obi wan, bail, owen, beru, and reva) and 5? ( yoda, obi, bail, the queen, possibly reva) knowing that he has a daughter.

Now I’m wondering if bail told his wife that leia is anakin’s daughter? Or just that padme died and leia is her daughter and not mention anakin. Or that she is just an orphan and not mention he knows who the parents were?

Secrets with this big a group never go well.

Well, it all works out in the end.

The Emperor and Vader aren’t looking for the kids since they have no idea they exist. As Rumsfeld said, unknown unknowns.
Once Luke is active in rebellion they find out PDQ
It’s a version of “need to know”.
Only Bail, Yoda and Obi Wan know the whole truth. Everyone else know a smaller amount.

Reva does not know who Luke is. What she knew was that he was important to Obi Wan, and, as the Grand Inquisitor said, revenge does wonders for your will to live. She went after Luke because she knew that Obi Wan was connected to Owen, a person who had lied to her about Obi Wan’s location, and Luke was important to both of them. Beyond that she was acting on instinct, and didn’t really have a plan.

If you had told me 10 years ago, right after the Disney purchase, that in 2022 there would be a Sequel trilogy which had been panned harder than the prequels (which are now liked) , that a Solo movie and a Boba Fett series existed which people hated while there was a Kenobi series with Hayden Christensen acting as Anakin/Vader to general acclaim, there is no way I would have believed you.

Theory I saw online that I now love and want to be true: at some point Han came across Kumail Nanjiani’s character and was conned by him and that is why he is so sure in ANH that the Force is nothing but BS.

I always thought his “May the Force be with you” to Luke was well played. By all parties. It comes off sorta like “Good luck. Ill pray for you.”…and Lukes reaction “Thanks. That helps a lot. Dumbass.”

And then to Chewie “What? Shut-up. I know what Im doing”.

Or someone like him. Fake Jedis are probably a dime a dozen and it’s not like the Empire cares, unless Co-incidentally they also have some force sensitivity, which will mean an express ticket to Fortress Inquisitorious. By the way, doesn’t that mean Luke is at risk if his academy application gets accepted? They will find out then.

Definitely so. Perhaps it was Obi-Wan, doing the Jedi Mind Trick on Owen, keeping Luke from actually sending his application in.

This actually make Owen seem to be less of a hard-ass who’s just being a dick to Luke. Because this is an actual point, now that we know more about how the Empire actually worked day-to-day. In the Original movie, the only Force users we knew about were Vader, Luke and Obi-Wan, but now we know, for at least a little while, the Empire had a whole bureaucracy dedicated to finding and turning Force users.

Or, as is sometimes said, “use the Force”.

New head-canon: Owen kept telling Luke “next year, next year” because he was trying to keep him safe from the Empire.

Even in the context of the 1977 film, it’s clear Owen has his reasons just beyond needing another hand on the farm.

How was that going to work for much longer though? He is 19 in the film (Hamill was in his late 20’s) and eventually things are going to come to a head.
