Does anybody know if it’s possible to obtain fresh lychees in the Philadelphia area? I believe that they will be in season in May or June. I know that I could order some from LycheesOnline.com but I would have to order a minimum of 10 lbs. which sounds like more than I’d want since they do not keep very long. I’m hoping that a local market imports them from Florida. I’m west of the city in the King of Prussia area.
Does Philadelphia have a Chinatown? If so, try there.
2nd vote for Chinatown or Asian market. As someone who just tried and failed to track down fresh lychees, I can tell you that when they are in season, the Asian markets will have them. Some markets here in Chicago also had them for Chinese New Year (just for future reference)
Absolutely. I was hoping to avoid going downtown but I may try that. Can anyone suggest a good market there?
My girlfriend was telling me about how much she misses lychees since she came to the states and I’m hoping to surprise her. She said that she doesn’t think they’re available here. She’s lived in this area a number of years so if they were available in Chinatown you’d think she would know. But I may look in the yellow pages and start calling markets.
