While I (grudgingly) respect their right to hold those opinions, I don’t respect their attempts to make them law. I can’t. And because of that, I can’t respect the party that they belong to. We’re not talking about random Republicans off the street here, and we’re not talking Al Sharpton, who never had any real influence on the national Democrats. We’re talking about sitting and former governors, representatives and senators.
There IS more to me than being gay, and the Republicans pretty much hate all of those things, too. My atheism, my polyamory, my semi-socialist beliefs, my respect for science…all pretty much anathema to the Republican party. It’s not JUST being gay that makes me anti-Republican.
I’m not aware that the Bachman’s. We’re seeking to make conversion therapy mandatory for gays, and I’m not sure what kind of law you would make out of Santorum’s comment.
I never really took Santorum or Bachman very seriously.
Anyhow, I’m apparently written off along with ll Republicans in your book.
That’s a shame, bu it really is your loss, too.
The cops go in for a reason. Because laws are being broken or that people are interfering more than a little with the general population going about there business. And they always warn the protestors. If you get hurt you’re probably an idiot. At the very least you think they would have learned like the Queen Idiot, Rachel Cory. If a bunch of cops in riot gear start walking my way I’ll either leave or sit on the ground peacefully and ask to be arrested.
Wow, you got something right. Because that is precisely the point.
Because they were told to. I doubt most of them would go in on their own. if you get hurt it is because you got creamed by a cop. Smart people can get beat up too. If you are suggesting all the people in the occupy movement are stupid, then you have as usual zero credibility. This is another demonstration of your bigotry and hatred.
In Oakland an Iraqi vet got critically hurt. i hope you feel happy about that. I sure don’t.
So be a democrat. That’s fine. I have a problem with your atheism, polyamory, and socialism. I strongly disagree with all of them, and I think you are likely diminished as a human being because of them. I’ll gladly Tell you why if you want to hear it, and listen to you arguments to the contrary.
But I don’t write you off or look down on you because we disagree. I might be wrong.
Apparently my lack of agreement, makes me “lost” and you “disgusted” with me.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to me you were a bit less absolutist, a bit more inclusive, and a bit more tolerant in the past.
Occupy, modern liberalism , this board, it’s becoming a pretty hateful, absolutist and intolerant thing lately.
Do you have any explanations for their bigotry that don’t involving trying to inflict religious persecution?
Don’t you find banning gay marriage to be a hateful, absolutist, and intolerant thing?
No, because law could be broken. Could.
Did the police ever attack a conservative group? They have attacked hippies, freedom riders, anti war protesters, and now occupy Wall Street people. If you think it is about keeping the streets clear ,so a conservative can walk unmolested, you would be wrong. We all know who they work for.
I’d love to see them try the “persuasive tactics” we’ve seen in those videos in Blood/Crips/MS-13 turf – where as we all know laws are never broken nor is the “general population” affected in their daily lives. Of course, I’ll also grant you that the OWS Movement is far more dangerous…to many an illicit fat wallet.
It should be, and I’d say is, about keeping the streets clear so ALL people can go about their lives unmolested. Why in the world would you believe that one group of people should be allowed to keep me someone from going to visit their friend, run their business, visit their parents, etc.? Why?
And how about you try answering a question for a change?
Could. And often, are. When they’re told to disperse and don’t. When they have open fires. When their is drug use/ When their is sexual aggression. Like I said, are.
Glad I could clear that up for ya.
Most likely is that you put yourself in a position where the idiots on your side caused the cops to react with force. If you put yourself in that position, the first person you should blame is yourself. The second is the idiots who got aggressive toward the cops. The cops tell you to leave, you leave. It’s really that simple. Either that or sit on the ground with your hands on your head and get arrested—in a real act of civil disobedience.
I don’t think they’re all stupid. The ones who instigate aggression, the one who provoke the cops, the ones who don’t disperse when they’re told to and then someone gets hurt and they whine—they’re the stupid ones. Them and people like you who attempt to defend such assholeness. Not that I’d expect anything else of you.
And if you are claiming that I’m bigoted against the stupid, that may be bit strong, but maybe. But only when displays of their stupidity cause larger problems and then don’t take responsibility.
HA! No, I’m not happy about that. But I am tickled that all of a sudden a vet has angel wings in your book. You’re one comical mofo. Not to mention impressively stupid. But that’s old news.
If you took a random act of violence against a gay person and told me that it was committed by an American who self-identified with one of the two major parties and that I had to bet $100 bucks on which party he was a member of, I’d chose Republican.
Why do you ask? My answer hardly leads to the proposition that Republicans want to kill gays, generally. To state so, as JayJay has in this thread is pure ridiculosityness.
What would make you think that. Maybe try to control that tic in your knee. You’re likely to knock out a tooth.
I don’t know…experience? Wide reading? Actually recognizing who the supporters of each political party are? Not being a stupid little conservative troll?
Stupidity?
Regards,
Shodan
Such as it was.
I heard last night that the protesters were breaking down the fence and trying to occupy the park again. No bueno, but I hope no one was hurt.
