How many out there need to post to the SDMB?
I see people with 1500+ posts and think ‘Christ, they’re getting 5 posts a day’ - Isn’t that a little obsessive?
Do any of you HAVE to post, like you feel incomplete if you havn’t posted on the SDMB?
I just post whenever I feel like I should post. Sometimes I browse the boards without posting, and sometimes I go on a posting spree… it depends on my interest in the current topics under discussion.
Wonder if Flamsterette_X is going to post here… 
1500 posts in the 2 years I’ve been here isn’t that much - it works out to a post/day ratio of 2.16 (nicely shown in each profile - I didn’t do the math).
I never feel like I “have to” post. In fact, I’m much more likely to start a post, then quit before I actually hit submit. If I’d posted every time I started to, I’d probably have…2000-2500 posts today.

I remember on BBSs people used to manage 200+ posts a day.
Specificaly, ~5 regular callers to a BBS, and the BBS averaged 1200 new messages a day.

Suffice to say, some of the high posters are gone–the ones I liked anyway.
There were quite a few but they seemed to display some emotional immaturity in
their posts & the mods got rid of them.
You just keep telling yourself that.
I actually dont post that much. I dont keep constant check on the forums so by the time I see a post Im interested in/can help with (I like GQ), it’s already been answered 5-10 times. A couple of the times I have asked questions in GQ the responses kinda made me feel like a retard. So whenever I get the urge to post when I do come by here it is easily suppressed. I cant count the number of good questions I would have liked to have asked, but just never felt like it was a good idea.

(I noticed if you click on a profile it lists how many posts per day the person does…Hmm, interesting)

ChronosGF took the words right out of my fingertips. There’s been a million times I wanted to ask or answer a question, but somebody beat me to the punch. Many times all I have to add is a “Me, too!”, and everybody knows how much fun those are to read, so I stay quiet. (A rarity for me, IRL, I might add…)
I mainly prefer reading the threads, but I do jump in every so often, as you can tell by my own gigantic post count.

I occasionally go through some prolific periods of 10/day or so, but I guess I just don’t have that much to say.

Someone is always going to have the most posts. The question is, can they handle it? There is always
someone trying to push you off the top. I once or twice talked about OCD here, but then got some
weird email from someone ‘Sharon’, who I don’t know & don’t recognize from the board, so gave up on
commenting about it.
