I’ve already got tech support working on this, but I’ve already stumped two techs and I don’t have high hopes of a fast solution from them so I’m turning to the Dope.
All of my emails have been miniaturized. The font is set correctly and all the people I send emails to can see them at the correct size. They show up correctly in the preview panel, but when I open or create an email or meeting request it looks like the font size is about 1/4 the size of the SDMB font size 1.
If I increase the font size to 72pt I can read it, barely, but the recipients see it as 72pt and think I’m really shouting at them.
This only occurs in Exchange, all other programs function correctly so I’ve been working around it by creating emails in MS word and cutting and pasting to send.
Address bars are all the correct size. This occured mid day yesterday and I wasn’t making any change to Exchange at the time. I’ve rebooted, restarted exchange, verified all the font settings I could find. It seems clear that it’s a view setting but I can’t find any setting for that. Google is failing me as well.
Do you mean Exchange or Outlook? Exchange is the program the IT department has on their servers in the basement. I doubt you rebooted that. Outlook is (usually) the program you run on your work station.
Do incoming emails sent by other people appear normal to you?
What version of Outlook do you have? 2000, 2003, 2007, or 2010. or are you using OWA, where you access your Exchange-based email using a browser & website? If the latter which browser & version are you using?
It’s not clear whether you’re saying that the font size of newly created mails defaults to a small size (e.g. 4 pt type), or whether the font size says it’s a normal 10 or 12 but just looks tiny to you.
Give us a complete explanation and we can probably help.
The font size is normal but it looks tiny to me in the the compose window only. I’m using exchange 2010 and when I access through webmail it does not occur, only in the client.
When I reply it also makes the entire email chain appear tiny in the same compose window.
I did try Ctrl + but there was no change. I’m in the office today so I don’t have a mouse attached but when I get out of this meeting I’m going to find a coworker to borrow one from to try Ctrl mouse wheel.
I have Outlook 2003 and I can duplicate this using zoom.
I opened a new message and:
-Clicked into the body of the message.
-Went to View - Zoom - changed my zoom to 10%.
-All my fonts in the body were extremely small.
-I closed out of the message and opened a new one…the zoom stayed at 10%.
-Ctrl + does not affect this like it would in other MS applications.
-I manually went back to View - Zoom and changed it.
I’m not sure what the equivalent is for 2010, I hope this helps.
In the Outlook 2010 main window there’s a zoom slider at the bottom right of the window. When creating a new message, on the message tab there’s a zoom button on the right side of the ribbon.
You guys are awesome! I have no idea how I managed to change this because our corporate implementation of Outlook has removed that option from the ribbon in favour of some corporate specific configuration items. I had to dig through menu’s to find it but searching on zoom made it a LOT easier!
