I have an MSAccess database at work that I made a copy of for a branch office. I gave the attorney at that office a crash course in MSAccess and he took the database to that office and from what I heard, all was well.
They haven’t had to use it until now and so I went to the branch office and in his infinite wisdom, this attorney set up the database with different security levels for each of the seven employees in that branch.
It totally screwed up the database and I had to install it all over again. I got it all back to normal except for something I have never seen and don’t quite know how to fix.
For whatever reason, prior to my repair and afterwards, the attorney who installed the database (and made himself Admin) has the most limited access of all. He doesn’t have the “view” option at the top of his screen.
I re-loaded his version of XP, I re-installed the database again and still - his is the only computer in that office without the “view” option. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to come back to this office. I have tried to replicate this, but can’t and the attorney is coming down to our office tomorrow and I would like to be able to tell him how to fix this but I am at a loss.
I am sure this is something so simple that I couldn’t see it while I was there (it was a Friday afternoon and I had given training all day so I guess I was tired).
This is what drives me crazy with MS Access - the major things are no problem but it is the little things that can sometimes send me off in the corner to bang my head.
Can someone tell me what is going on with his version of MS Access that has removed the top screen “view” option to allow him Design/Form/Datasheet views? Did the toolbar screw up or what? Shouldn’t the total re-loading of XP, and the database, have solved that?
