But I for one, find it very cheesy.
Me. Maybe a bad analogy, but seeing as on any given day there is someone hurting over the loss of a loved one, then is it impossible to show some respect for the dead?
I would think given the enormous trauma my family went through over the death of one very sick woman, multiply that by like a zillion, to equal the pain in some areas of the states right now… I know it doesnt compare, but if I had lost 500 co-workers, I might not find death humor appropriate right now.
I personally dont find death to be funny. Its not a matter of politically correct or not, I dont find anything funny about death, thats it in a nutshell.
Certainly a KD floral arrangement is not as offensive as say… calling it ‘nigger food’, or ‘fag feed’ - those would be outrageously shouted down by the public, as they should be, they are offensive to many.
Maybe death humor is only offensive to someone who is in a really bad place.
And this:
I feel really bad about them not keeping score when you were a child, and the apparent loss of your job. If it helps you to project that onto me, by all means. I have big shoulders. ( I really dont know much about baseball, so they probably shouldnt have left me in charge)
kelli, that’s awful nice of you to take the high road when we all can see clear as day that you were the one who instituted the policy that rooked jcwhateverthehellhisnameis out of a no-hitter as a child.
(And, FTR, I do agree with a large portion of your post, jc, but you gotta remember your settings and context. Flying off the handle about ethnic jokes and your little league baseball policies when someone is talking about mac&chee will not do much to get people on your side. So kelli doens’t find the humor appopriate, as some others do not. I do find it funny, not that it matters – but the “my baseball history and racial jokes, as they relate to modern commercials and processed cheese food products” rant seems a bit out of place. Either start your own thread or wait until the inevitable PC thread pops up. Just my 2¢, do with it what you will…)
Kelli, you don’t have to carry everything on your shoulders.
With all due respect, and I’m only saying this because I’ve read about your situation, maybe you should curtail your time on the boards for now. At least stay out of the Pit. I know you need support, so I’m not suggesting that you leave entirely, but you’re not going to find support in the Pit!
And jc, I think I took your post the “right way”, or IOW, the way you meant it. Someone actually said “There shouldn’t be any losers”?! That’s worse than the one I heard, about the parent going into ToysRUs in search of a game “where everyone wins”!
And here’s a big hot fudge sundae for that no-hitter:

If I were the sort of person who laughed at commercials, I probably would have laughed at that one. I’ve been around a lot of people who, at one time or another, live on Kraft, and I could see them requesting that for their funeral. I fail to see why this is exactly pit-worthy–have you run out of things to be offended at and decided to go out and find something?
Well, it worked for Tombstone frozen pizza.
Hey, I’m eating Kraft Mac and Cheese right now as i read this thread, does that mean i’m gonna die?!?!? I don’t wanna die!
