Yes. His mommy.
No, but whoever it was it looked like he was driving his mother’s station wagon.
ETA: Oh. Then that makes sense, I guess.
I don’t think he’s screwing with him. Charles seems serious and straightforward. The joke is that the whole thing would have been resolved if Jim had just asked what he meant by a “rundown” right from the beginning.
I presume it was his Mom.
I find the whole MSPC thing a bit frustrating to watch. I realize Scott is an imbecile, but why does Michael not know the first thing about running a sales office? And why has Ryan gone from ambitious corporate VP MBA douche to just plain ole douche?
“You know you could be totally hot if you just put a little effort into it”
“You mean like dying my hair blonde?”
“The sun did that.”
IF he wasn’t as ambiguous with his answer to that question as he was with the task, and who to send it to. Maybe you’re right and it wasn’t an ‘exercise’. Of course I agree that there’s no doubt that Jim should have asked.
I missed the first 15 minutes or so of the first episode, but I thought the second episode was awesome. I howled at the new “Michael Scott Paper” opening credits. And as a West Virginia girl myself, I squealed at Andy and Dwight dueling over “Country Roads.” I’m starting to wonder if the new receptionist will get fed up with the harassment and quit, opening the door for Pam to come back to D-M.
I loved the spats between Pam and Douchey Blonde Ryan. Has Kelly realized that Ryan’s back yet, or is she too busy trying to get Charles to notice her?
It seems like Charles was told by the head office that Jim was a star and should probably replace Michael. Charles is out to prove them wrong. Had the same thing happen to me once when my new boss walked in the door having heard from a mutual friend that I was a solid performer. The guy went out of his way to make my life miserable. It’s called “making yourself look good by making others look bad.”
But Jim isn’t helping himself any. As soon as he was asked for the rundown, he should have asked for clarification. (Although it seems obvious that it should be a list of current and potential clients and the status of each, along with sales volume.) But then again when Charles asked him to fax the list to the “distribution list”, without clarifying who should be on that list, I think he really is being deliberately difficult. (And, by the way, why not email the list?)
I guess that sale shows that Michael Scott Paper does exist, contrary to comments about the episode two weeks ago.
Pure speculation with no inside info but this is my guess.
Michael Scott Paper will do just enough business to trigger an action by corporate to bring Michael back to D-M.
I think putting him in the same building sets up at least a half season of the MSPC existing. Maybe DM will just buy him out?
Because by faxing it they’re creating a need for the recipients to buy more paper. An email might not get printed out.
Just watched them over. I love how Pam and Michael take turns talking each other out of hysterics in Dream Team, my favorite of the two. Thankfully Michael’s really putting some effort into this, aside from the occasional “what have I done” moments. I love his story about scoring the most goals in hockey after his math teacher told him he was going to flunk math class.
I loved the poor telemarketing guy and how quickly he bailed once he realized how half-assed Michael’s business plan was.
I see it more that corporate perceives Jim as groomed by and loyal to Michael and that’s why Charles is suspicious of him.
Not that Jim ever appears to have been groomed at all.
That was my thought. Maybe MSPC becomes mildly successful by some fluke or whatever and the higher ups and D-M figure to buy it out to kill the fledgeling competition.
Michael would probably get some nice money out of the deal and lose it/blow it on something stupid.
“What does ‘NaNa’ mean?”
“It means Grandmother.”
“Sweet Jesus.”
My WAG is that Michael is going to overhear Charles say something in the bathroom that he can use to his advantage.
This comment made me realize that I had missed something. Somehow when I was watching the show on nbc.com, it skipped right from Pam’s list while Michael worked out directly to the start of the new episode. I didn’t even notice! Weird.
Now that I’ve seen the whole thing, the highlight is definitely seeing the return of Ranjit Chowdhury, one of my favorite Indian character actors.
And is it me or isn’t there really a little more room in that utility closet for the three of them to spread out a little more?
And why the hell would Billy Merchant be willing to put up with Michael, for zero rent?
There’s never a bad time to go to Burlington Coat Factory.
23 posts and not one thing about Kelly Erin?! She out-cutes Pam, although Pam is hot now.
Don’t replace Kelly Erin!
It’s not inconceivable that Michael convince one or two of the larger clients he brought to D-M to switch over to MSPC, thereby making D-M nervous and/or annoyed enough to buy him out. I still can’t see how they’d be able to engineer a full series reset, though. I could see Michael making retention of all MSPC personel a condition of the sale, but I can’t see them putting him back in his old job as Regional Manager. More likely, I think, is that he, Pam and Ryan would be given sales jobs and either Charles would conitinue to manage the office or somebody else (Jim or Dwight) would be promoted to RM.
