The Office: "Local Ad" (open spoilers)

Basically just a straight up funny episode. Going back to the 1/2 hour format seems to help.

Michael’s commercial was actually pretty good in its own nonsensical way.

I liked the Second Life stuff (Dwight: I’m playing a game with no score, no winners , no losers." Jim: “Oh, there’s losers.”).
Darryl’s song was pretty good but I think they miss a perfect opportunity to showcase Creed’s musicianship.

“Ryan is being a little bitch again.” Heh.
Ooohhh Deeeee!!"

Bad News: You have a son. It’s me.

Kevin is the Kool Aid Guy

Break me off a piece of that Chrysler Car/ Fancy Feast, etc.

And I loved Michael’s commercial. It was great, which was surprising, because I thought it would be played for laughs. Truly, it was creative and infinitely better than Ryan’s, though the tag line (Dunder Mifflin: Limitless paper in a paper-free world) was unintentionally ironic.

There were a lot of nonsense phrases like that in Michael’s commercial. There was something about “travelling at the speed of time,” for instance. It still somehow worked in spite of all that and I agree, it was way better than the waving in the parking lot garbage. It’s weirdness alone would have made people pay attention.

Kevin as the Kool-Aid guy made my night. I must say though, as a whole I’m starting to grow weary of the new episodes.

Yeah, it was weird and nonsensical in places, but in a way it showcased the best side of Michael, selling paper in his own enthusiastic, wacked-out but somehow effective way. Thing is, he IS creative. He comes up with the most bizarre ideas and unconventional thoughts, and if he were an otherwise normal person, I bet his creativity would be more recognizable. His social ineptitude and lack of contact with everyone else’s consensual reality really impedes the ability to see the good qualities. Especially by Ryan, who is the anti-Michael in so many ways except his pathetic eagerness to be cool and looked up to.

Dwight and Andy laughing madly at this went right over my head. What’s the joke?

If explaining it will ruin it for everyone, then don’t. I can live without knowing the answers to all of life’s mysteries.

Well, Dwight thought she was calling out “D” for Dwight and Andy thought she was calling out “Dee” for “AnDEE.” Both laughed maniacally because they thought that Angela is hot for them.

I’m soooo glad that the episodes are back to a half hour. The tempo was much better this time.

My favorite part was them singing the jingle around the piano.

I just think that Dwight was stoked that Angela had said “Oh D…” (meaning Dwight) when she was fooling around w/ Andy. Andy, blissfully aware, is just stoked that he was “making out” with Angela.

Thanks! I totally missed where Andy told Dwight this. That is funny.

I finally watched an episode of “The Office” tonight, my sister just loves this show, and I really liked the humor! I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to see the show, but I do have one question. Is the camera work always like that? Unsteady, zooming in real fast, etc.

I want to see the scene where Michael suggested that Stanley play a convict.

I wonder if Jim ever did let Meredith drive him home.

Yes. The premise is that they are participating in a documentary, and there’s always a camera crew there.

(Edit: Beaten to the punch by Alice the Goon.)

“Limitless paper for a paperless world” is pure brilliance.

w00t! The director’s cut!

Lame!

I was surprised at how warmly Stanley smiled after he watched that scene. I guess he ended up really enjoying it despite the Michaelishness of such a suggestion.

Ah! I was wondering what was with all the glances to the camera. Thank you!

Daryl’s song was really catchy. I was hoping that it’d somehow make it into the ad. Was that a four part harmony? I could distinctly hear Creed’s voice, but I wonder if the other characters’ actors (Kelly, Kevin, Andy) were actually singing. Andy and Kevin have sung on the show before, but I don’t think Kelly has. I hope it was them. It was impressive.

Finally, Michael didn’t go off the deep end in an episode.

I wonder if they’re gonna run with the Jim as a jealous boyfriend thing.

I loved that Dwight’s Second Life avatar (or maybe Second Second Life) was called Assistant to the Regional Manager.

“Pam, clear my lines”

“Uh, ok… Boop, Beep, Beep, Boop, Boop”

So hot.

“It’s Eddie Murphy on Line 1”
