Office(s) - April 9, 2009

Yeah Jim is definitely on the way out at DM, i can easily see him ending up working for Michael. I can also see the scranton branch going into the crapper without Michael, as moronic as he was there was a reason their branch outperformed all the others, and losing one of their best salesmen as well isn’t going to help.

Who else is actually in sales in the Scranton branch? Assuming Jim does leave (and I agree that it’s likely) that only leaves leaves Andy, Dwight, Stanley and Phyllis. Based on the Wikipedia article, everyone else is accounting, QA, customer service, HR or supplier relations. Perhaps one reason the company is in trouble is they’ve got so much overhead in just one sales office.

It’s not solely a sales office. Michael and Creed (quality assurance) have some responsibility for what goes on at the paper factory.

If Dunder-Mifflin’s big selling point is service, then they have to have Kelly.

Meredith (supplier relations) seems to be extraneous. Wouldn’t the company be supplied at a corporate level?

The accountants did discover that their own department is overstaffed.

I think in real life, Scranton would have to share a traveling H.R. rep with other branches.

So, Toby, Oscar, Kevin, and Meredith (perhaps even Angela) are definitely unnecessary overhead. That’s about a third of the office.

It has been worse. They had Devin before. I don’t know what Tony and Hannah did. Martin and Karen were both in sales, I think.

I liked the alternate credits in the 2nd ep. That was a nice touch, they could’ve easily skipped, but I’m glad they did it. It was fun.

I’m not clear on why Ryan was working at the bowling alley. Last I recall, after Pam came back, Ryan went from reception to working over by Kelly. Did I miss him getting fired again?

IIRC, Ryan was only hired as a temp for reception. There is no way as a convicted felon he would be able to come back to Dunder Mifflin as a full time employee.

He quit to take a trip to Thailand to entertain his libido.

He took off to Thailand with some high schoolers for a drug and sex tour.

I’m in love with the new receptionist.

The girl, I mean - not Kevin.

Are you sure about that?

In my opinion, she is now the most attractive woman in the cast…

For the record, I also think the actress who played Jan is really good looking, as well as the woman who played Jim’s girlfriend from the other branch. (I cant recall the characters name, but I think the actress is Quincy Jones’ daughter in real life)

The character’s name was Karen. The actress (Rashida Jones) is on Parks & Recreation that debuted last night.

The girl he dated for a few episodes in the second season was the hottest of all though, she was played by the drop dead gorgeous Amy Adams

Thanks!!!

I didnt see the “Parks and Recreation” premier…

Was it good?

I dont think I was clued in to the show back then, but you are right—Amy Adams is very easy on the eyes!!!

Her name is New Kelly! Get it right! :stuck_out_tongue:

Best two episodes in ages. Oh, The Office I love you so. I’m sorry I ever said 30 Rock was better than you.

NO.

There should be a thread about it somewhere on here. Last I read, I think only one person admitted to finding it somewhat entertaining.

My wife is pretty certain that Michael’s car is a company car. At least, she remembers him mentioning that his Sebring convertible was a company car, and she was surprised to see him driving his PT Cruiser around after he quit. Are we remembering right?

I think a few people liked it ok. I’ll watch it a few times to see if I like it, but you’re right, I wasn’t ‘wowed’ by the first episode. As someone mentioned in that thread, it shouldn’t have been sandwiched in between the two really good Office episodes.

Boy is the new Kelly hot!

That might have been my favorite bit. For years we’ve heard Michael give random quotations from some corner of pop culture, and he always gives an attribution. (E.g., “‘May the Force be with you’ – Star Wars.”) The attribution always makes it sound like he’s acknowledging a colleague in the arts.

Now that we see it in writing, it’s a clear picture of how Michael’s mind works – he thinks that his act of quoting somebody is itself noteworthy and should be acknowledged.

This was mentioned in previous episodes but we have seen his PT Cruiser on several occasions before he quit, as well.
