But, as things would have it, I lost my patience waiting; so I eventually fired off an e-mail to the poor woman, flirted for a week or two, and then finally managed to drum up enough courage to ask her out.
So yeah, if you wanna blame anyone, blame her. She’s the one who agreed to go out with a weirdo she met on the internet. :eek:

The naughty nuptial nasties, Baker, probably won’t be until a year (or more; possibly less) from the time auntie em manages to shed her house, her current employ and her reluctance to cough up that million dollar dowry I should get for dealing with her fried tofu fetish.

Our original plan (and still current, I believe) was to elope to Big Sur and get hitched by this weirdo. We think it oughta be a lot of fun. (Of course, we now have, tagging along, an unwanted–and increasing in number–entourage that refuses to be left behind. So the elopement seems like it’s turning into quite the wedding parade. I guess dem are da’ breaks when you’re as popular and cute a couple as auntie em and I like to tell ourselves. ;))
But fret not, Baker! We do plan on throwing a giant shindig when we get back, so you will be able to come! And I’m sure we’ll definitely take you up on your expertise in cakes. It’s nice having friends in the “bizzness.”
As for the shower… you’ll have to talk with the woman in charge. Being male, understand, I don’t have the necessary gene for understanding any shower but the one I hesitate to bring up when chatting with any woman other than * you know who!*

Okay, it was one thing when Montfort and Anniz became, like, the second or third doper engaged couple (behind Sealemon and Shanin and Satan and DB). It was easy enough to keep track of it way back in 2000-1.
Then we got … oh, who was it? There was a bit of a wait between that wedding in, I’m thinking, early-ish 2001 (because we saw the wedding video at DopeaWeen), and RobinDaveWedding roughly a year ago (soonly followed by RobinEgg hatching, but not too soonly). Then there were lots of engagements in and around that one, notably racinchikki and gunslinger engagement, WeirdNorth engagement (and wedding), Spiny Norman and Shayna engagement (and wedding), Geobabe and UncleBill engagement (and wedding, and ever-growing Geobaby, unless I’m transposing Tygr and JKayla) and at least one I’m forgetting. And somewhere in there Tygr and JKayla also had a kid, I think.
Now we’ve got me and fizzy, TruePisces and Verrain, lno and Elenfair, … I’ve lost track, I’ve lost count, and all I know is I want my mommy. Could we maybe open up some sort of spreadsheet to keep track of all this nuptualness? Doper Wedding Tracker[sup]TM[/sup]? What’s a guy to do???

Oooh, Big Sur. I was stationed out on the Monterey Peninsula back when I was in the Army. Lovely area, beautiful background for a wedding. But with the increasing train of guests it sounds like you will have to elope from the elopement!
NOOOOOO kidding! It all started when my sister threatened never to speak to me again if she wasn’t in attendance (well, actually she threatened never to speak to me again if she couldn’t be in the wedding . . . so this is a compromise) . . .
Anyway, we will be having a reception afterwards and, like Skip said, will be happy to take you up on your cake expertise, but ONLY if you’re going to be able to relax and enjoy yourself at the reception, and not twitch around, thinking, “Do they like the cake? Does the cake look good? Does the cake taste good? Hey, what is that kid doing sticking my cake into his pants???”

And as for a shower, one of my best friends wants to fly in from Malibu and throw me one as soon as the wedding plans get underway, and you will officially be my ONLY female friend in Topeka (the rest I’ll have to import), so it’ll be an easy commute for you.
