Well, JustPlainBryan and I are now engaged to be married. Now, even though the both of us are dopers, we were together looooong before we discovered The Straight Dope (ok, I was the one who discovered it and became addicted). But, in the two years I’ve been a part of this board, we’ve gone to many a dopefest together and have become real-life friends with several of you fine folks.
We’ll be getting hitched next year in May; we’re looking at a small and private ceremony on the beach (probably Malibu or thereabouts).
And, I just wanted to say how funny it seems that a message board has become a part of our lives. Not only is it a topic of discussion at least once or twice a week for us, but for the friendships and the community that has come about from such a rag-tag grouping of folks around the world.
Among the married and engaged who met through the SDMB (so many lately, I won’t claim to remember them all):

All of whom either got married or engaged (or both) in the past year, IIRC.
