Official Golden Globes thread

Unless someone here is connected with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, wouldn’t this be the Unofficial Golden Globes thread?

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet (now that would be a good trick…), I predicted Geoffrey Rush’s win here a couple of weeks ago. I thought the film itself was pretty shite.

Is there a link for the acceptance speeches?

Shirley, I looked but I haven’t found any. MacShane didn’t say anything outrageous. He complimented the writers, singled out David Milch. (I was wondering how they’d find a clip that didn’t have some profanity, but they managed.)

I read a couple of on-line articles, and none of them mentioned anything unusual about the speeches, except to say that Jason Bateman’s was a boring list of names, and Mariska Hargitay’s was sweet and emotional. (I just realized she was Jayne Mansfield’s daughter.)

Star Jones did the impossible – she made Joan Rivers look good.

Every conversation was either gushing over what an incredible talent she was talking to, or was completely about herself. “Glamazon”…my god.

John Stewart’s rip on her and her miraculous rescue from the tsunami was dead on.

I thought Cate Blanchett’s dress was very pretty. I thought the worst was the woman from National Treasure. What was that thing?

The cable channel Trio airs reruns of Cop Rock all the time.

It’s unbelievable just how BAD a show can be…

A few other musical television series: The Monkees (1966-1968, with its music video-style songs worked into the plot), The Jackie Gleason Show (1966-1970, with its Honeymooners musicals), and Fame (1982-1987). There was another musical television series from the Eighties, set on a ranch, but I can’t remember the name.
