title = The dragon was probably a metaphor too. Kicked its allegorical ass.
What.
Yeah, that one was pretty bizarre.
think its a reference to the Marvelous land of OZ, where the Hero, a boy named Tip, finds out that he is the princess of Oz…
***Another ***strip where either a biological male takes on a female sexual role, a biological female uses a strap on, or lesbian sex saves the day? I think it is a reference to the fact that the author of the comic has severe gender identity/penis envy issues.
That, or she’s just trying to bring balance to a world of male-dominated art. Given that gay male sex and lesbian sex seem to get about equal screen time, I’m not sure a claim of bias stands up.
I think she likes to invert common fantasy tropes. In this one she takes on both ‘save the princess’ and ‘journey of self discovery’.
I think after the Virgin’s Village plot, we were promised more dick. I’m not complaining. Here it is from Twitter:

@terriblestormy I know. I KNOW. It’s been a very het arc, and we need to do some looooong overdue gay stuff.

Yeah, the Oz books have a couple of weird gender things going on, but it’s somewhat alleviated when you realize most of the child characters never really age. Tip/Ozma seems to remain a tween for the rest of her life, and Dorothy is always ten.
Wow, she’s damn good looking for ten.
I hope not. Drawing a sex-comedy comic with lots of gay sex and strapons because you like drawing/looking at them (which I think she copped to at one point) is cool. Doing it because you’re trying to make a point would be douchey. Doing it because you like them and then claiming you’re doing it for justice would be Paragon Path level douchey.
“At last, some heterosexual porn!” as the pic text for pg. 2 of ‘Solstice’ remains my favorite text gag thus far.

While I might agree the artists alley at any given anime convention was ‘male dominated,’ it would be using a different context than the term usually implies.
I doubt she’s doing it “for great justice!” but I suspect every time she draws a guy with a dick in his mouth, she gets a little smile thinking about all her hetero male readers flinching away from the panel.
At least, I know I do.
Over time I’ve come to the conclusion she simply puts in stuff that amuses her (which is perfectly fine), and trying to deconstruct her comics is pointless. What’s really going on is right in front of you.
Sometimes a giant erect penis is just a giant erect penis.
Are you sure it’s not a cigar?
Well, I know one way to find out.
Got a match?
I bet you ain’t got a match for this, feller. zzzzzzzzzzzzzip
I guess, as a guy who digs boobies, I do not flinch when there is a gay sex cartoon here and there. Hey, gotta be fair!
Plus, as a straight guy, a guy who gets duped into having gay sex is pretty funny, straight or gay. I guess I’m wierd (or…not? )
I feel the comics about the lesbian mercenary are handled much better than the gay ones. We don’t get “lol, she’s a straight woman but she’s having lesbian sex! lolol” as a punchline.
You might be projecting a bit there. I tend to imagine her as smiling at the thought of all us hetero female readers saying “woo, you go, girl!” Bring on the boy-on-boy action.
Well, but the character of Grier the Lesbian Mercenary apparently isn’t a straight woman—at least, we’ve never seen her expressing or welcoming any sexual interest involving a man.
We have indeed seen other female characters, nominally or apparently straight, involved in lesbian sex where their surprise was part of the comedy. E.g., the Snow Queen in Meltwater.
