Benedict, Much Ado About Nothing, the Bard!
G-d bless you, Sir!

Sorry, I was unclear. What’s funny about “Skin colour?” “I don’t mind.”

That’s what first tips Hades (and the reader) off that he’s just there for a random girl to screw, not to rescue his girlfriend.

It’s like going to a Lost and Found department and telling them you’ve lost your umbrella.
“What colour was it?”
“It doesn’t matter, just show me what you have and I’ll pick one.”

That part I understand, but upthread hogarth got a laugh out of that exchange. I thought there was some other joke I wasn’t getting since the response “I don’t mind” seems like so non sequitur.

That’s when one realizes that he isn’t looking for a dead girlfriend, just any girl.

But why did the big boss fear the bard’s lyre playing? He didn’t look like he’d be afraid of anything.

“Eurydice fell into a nest of vipers and suffered a fatal bite on her heel. Her body was discovered by Orpheus who, overcome with grief, played such sad and mournful songs that all the nymphs and gods wept. On their advice, Orpheus travelled to the underworld and by his music softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone (he was the only person ever to do so)”

I suspect in the Oglaf version, his playing was so awful that the Lord of the Underworld would do anything to make him stop playing.

My thoughts were along the lines: “You think making you pick out a hot babe for me is a pain in the ass? If you push me, I’ll start playing my lyre again and REALLY dick around with you! Maybe I’ll make YOU my girlfriend, would you like that?”

I’m not sure about this. “Don’t mind” means “I’m okay with it even though it would by default be non-preferred.” To communicate what you’re saying, I’d expect “Don’t care” or “Doesn’t matter.”

Saying “I don’t mind” for “I don’t care” is a bit slangy and probably regional, but I’ve heard it many times before. I think that’s what’s causing some people confusion.

“I don’t mind” also works if you interpret “Skin colour?” as “What kind of skin colour do you want?”

Yes, I think of that wording as British.

Bear in mind the author is Australian. “I don’t mind” just means “I have no preference”.

Alt and title text:
post-coital tristesse is a thing, apparently

I’ve absorbed myself entirely and now I’m gone.
Can’t say I laughed out loud, but I did chuckle.

Ha ha, but in the sense that “I’m familiar with that scene”.

Sorry, but the response of the second man after the first said “women” just cracked me up. The look on his face was priceless.

That one was a little confusing for me. I wondered did the gay guy cry because the sex was selfish and unsharing or because the self centered guy really thought he was a woman and was brutalizing his delicate anus thinking it was a vagina?

He was crying because the selfish guy was really lousy in bed. The details of that lousiness are left to the imagination, but are not, I think, all that relevant.
