Oh my god....I actually watch Wrestlemania...and LOVED IT

And the only reason?

Hulk Hogan coming back and becoming a face once again

I was a fan (not raging) back when he was the top of the WWF and found myself growing out of it as everyone left and so on.

Well my brother stormed in last night to use my pirate box…rasslin is on. I ignored him and kept on but then heard the familiar name come up…him against The Rock.

Now I heard he was a excellent heel and knew it was 9 years since the old “Hulkamania” was alive. So I turned to watch.

I was surprised. Apparently a lot of old fans came to the party.

When Hulk was introduced…everyone went batshit. Even Hogan seemed overwhelmed as people chanted his name and cheered as he fought against the Rock. He did the traditional moves and suddenly…I was 9 again, cheering my favorite.

It was unreal and everyone in the crowd knew it.

In the end, Rock won but only by the narrowest of margins. Afterward, they shook hands…then the plot thickens

The old members of the NWO jump back in and accuse Hogan of being a traitor then start to pound him. Rock jumps in and defends his buddy and Hulk is back on his old turf. He does the ear thing and it ends with him walking with Rock off to further Hulkamania

I got to tell you…even though I know its fake, even though I dont know half the people in it today, even though I predicted what was gonna happen…I was cheering along with my brother.

Bringing back Hulk Hogan was the greatest thing WWF has done. It helped me recapture a piece of my youth and even now I remember sitting with my friends as kids, playing with M.U.S.C.L.E’s and watching Hogan going head to head with guys like Nikola Volkoff, Roddy Piper, and the Macho Man Randy Savage. And it was great

Thanks WWF

I’m glad you liked it. I sacrificed watching Futurama, et al, so Mr. Rilch could see Wrestlemania, and afterwards, he said if he’d known it would be so lame, he wouldn’t have ordered it. So I missed my shows for nothing.

Wrestling, M.U.S.C.L.E. men… we had the same childhood.

I didn’t watch it but would have. I did watch some of the RAW show last night for those exact reasons. Pure Nostalgia.

It’s no different that watching a sitcom. Nobody is trying to fool anybody.

I have sat with my head in my hands for the last two months going

"Hogan… back… wrestling… hell in a hand basket… "
The guy is horrible. he is the king of No Sell and ran WCW into the ground.

I fear for tomorrow.

While I agree with you Twisty, there was no bigger mark out moment all night than Hogan getting the cheers and Rock getting boo’ed. The first Offensive Hogan got, the crowd went nuts. When Rocky got some, a huge boo. I never thought I would see that. It was surreal.

Of course the Women’s title match and the Championship match sucked. Hogan/Rock should have been last.

Although I missed RAW (yesterday was my anniversary) I do plan on watching it on TiVO at some point today, and read the wwf.com report. Apparently Hogan’s face turn was exactly what he needed. Put him in the Red and Yellow for another month, and retire him after Backlash.

I was glad to see that the Rock was able to put Hogan’s attempt to murder him (Rock) a few weeks back on Raw in its proper perspective. After all, why let a thing like attempted vehicular homicide keep one from appreciating the talents of an aging legend.

Twisty, it could be worse.

Imagine Hogan and Taker as a tag team. They could be called “the NoSelling Nimrods”. You’d have to hit them with a flaming chainsaw and drive them through a table covered in barbed wire and thumbtacks to get them to maybe sell.

sure looked like he was selling Sunday night. shrug.

Ok for us non wrestling fans, whats that no sell stuff mean?

Tremmie:

In wrestling, when you get clobbered with a massive dropkick, find yourself the victim of several chairshots, or take an awesome piledrive–you’re supposed to writhe around like it actually hurts.
You literally sell the move, or in other words–** make it look real**.

Some wrestlers prefer the “nothing hurts me image”, and pop right back up after some devastating move by their opponant. They don’t “sell” the move, making them look tough and their opponant ineffective.
