Got a call on Friday. Sorry Algie, no answer yet.
“I was out of the office all week. Sorry about the wait. I will call you next week. Don’t lose hope.”
Ooh Salem, the thought of you having your eyes crossed all this time gives me a headache!

This is unfortunately a rather common problem with hiring managers and some HR personnel: because they don’t feel a sense of urgency they don’t appreciate the agony a candidate is experiencing during the decision delays.
I have my champagne still on ice, and I still fully expect to celebrate. Be brave.
Thanks for keeping us updated Gazelle.
No new developments. Forgot to post about another strange coincidence.
At my birthday party this weekend, my good friend Dee recognized the name of the hiring manager. They used to work together fairly often, before Dee left the company to become a realtor. Dee offered to write to the hiring manager to put in a good word. I think she’s going to do so today.
Also, a co-worker came up with a theory as to why this is taking so long. Budget. People are waiting for their budgets to be approved before hiring. ?? Who knows.
That’s a good point, you know – we’re in the thick of budgeting right now, and I bet they are, too. We’re also completely miserable about letting people know they got the frickin’ job. It’s not our fault, but the slow, slow, SLOOOOOOW turnaround of a giant company. I know it’s agonizing, but no news really is good news in this case, because they clearly haven’t decided NOT to offer you the job.
Hang in there.
Hey, my budget just got approved! Maybe you’re next! (does it matter that it was the budget for last quarter that just got approved?)
Still holding on to the high hopes Gazelle! Hang in there!
This ain’t rubbing it in, Gazelle, but the new job I have, they called with my offer the day after I got home from the interview. Thrilled me to no end, but then I had to cool my heels for a month because the damned hurricane screwed things up so bad that they couldn’t accomodate me.
Good luck.
Here’s today’s daily “No news better be good news” post.
No news.
vunderbob, you are rubbing it in and I’m about to get schadenfreude on yo’ ass.
I know it doesn’t make any sense. It’s the only German word I could think to use.
Es tut mir leid.
(i’m sorry)
Ich spreche Deutsch, mein rrrrrrrrubesbaby. Didn’t have to transuhmuhlate for me.
But maybe you did it for others.
