Oh, my! That's some rich salmon!

I know it’s bad form to brag, but…

Neener, neener, neener! I’ve just dug into the salmon I bought in Westport, WA. Mmmmm, boy! It sure is good! Nice and smokey and oily, just as I like it.

Okay, it’s not quite as good as the salmon I got at the same place last year (they smoke it themselves), but it’s still an order of magnitude better than anything I can get here in Los Hideous. Maybe a couple orders of magnitude. It’s better than the salmon my friend got for me at another place last month, and that was fins and flippers better than the pre-packaged bricks in the markets down here. Better than the best smoked salmon I’ve had from So. Cal. fish markets. And this latest batch is better than that.

I’m going to take a nice tail fillet (I always get the tail fillets because they don’t have bones) to work on Wednesday. Looks like the boss chose the wrong week to go on his business trip to Chicago!
Since my friend has moved (as I mentioned in another thread), I won’t, as a matter of course, be getting out to the Olympic Peninsula any more. But that’s where Brady’s Oysters is. I may have to go a bit out of my way the next time I come back from the northern part of the state. (I did check out their website, and they do mail order – but two pounds of smoked salmon is $70 shipped overnight. My friend checked out other shippers in the area, and they charge similar high fees to ship seafood. Bummer.) When I was there this time, the countergirl said a couple from Spokane got up at 04:00 so they could drive out to Brady’s for some fish; so I’m not the only one who thinks it’s good.

Okay, that’s enough bragging. Time to go pat my salmon-filled belly.

So, Johnny, how much did it cost at Brady’s? (And how much is airfare out there this time of year??)

It was $11.95/pound. No idea how much airfare is. I drove up to run an errand and to help my friend finish for, and get started on, her move. So I was up there anyway.
